News reports in October 2011 claimed that Vincent Herbert was hospitalized for two weeks with allegedly a pulmonary embolism.
Vincent Herbert’s medical trouble reportedly erupted while Vincent was in New York City for work. He was immediately placed into Intensive Care. Unconfirmed news reports at the time that Herbert suffered a pulmonary embolism, or blood clot on the lungs, prompting difficulty with breathing.
Vincent’s hospitalization was referenced on last night’s episode in advance of the February 2, 2012 episode. Entitled “Critical Condition”, next week’s BFV episode reveals why Vincent was hospitalized, what medical condition caused the shocking situation, and Tamar’s reaction. “Vince is hospitalized after doctors find blood clots in his lungs” WeTV says in a news statement in advance of the new episode.
In a preview clip released to news and fans last night, the Braxton sisters reveal some of the details of the episode. Towanda says “Vincent is in the hospital. It’s really, really serious.” Trina then says “Have you spoke to Tamar?” “Yes” responds Towanda. “She is a wreck” adds Trina.
Tamar is seen crying with Toni and Evelyn alongside her. “It’s devastating for her” says Evelyn. Tamar opens up “It is so hard…. I’m not going to be okay, because he is not okay.”
Initial news reports from October 2011 said Herbert was hospitalized after having trouble breathing. Testing allegedly showed blood clots in his lungs. A news statement at the time indicated “He’ll be alright. He’s in our prayers, He’s a strong guy and he’ll pull through.”
Herbert and Tamar had just days before his medical condition appeared at Spelman College. But a source claimed that Herbert was initially hospitalized on a respirator for breathing troubles. Herbert became ill just days before a press conference for BFV was set to be handled in Los Angeles. He was also set to join Tamar at the Will Smith-hosted Los Angeles fundraiser for President Barack Obama, previously reported on LALATE. As reported on Sandra Rose at the time, a Trina and Towanda live Ustream session had to be cancelled.
Herbert was the second notable celebrity to be hospitalized with the pulmonary embolism that year. Months earlier, Serena Williams suffered the same condition.
Sister2Sister reports that Herbert remained in a New York hospital for two weeks. A quick use of blood thinners reportedly helped Vincent fully recover. During his stay, Lady Gaga was among the celebrities who visited him in the hospital.
Earlier that fall, Toni Braxton had dropped Vincent as her manager and replaced him with Baumgarten Management & Productions, Inc. Vincent and Tamar are set to appear in their won spinoff series in 2012.
