Oscar Nominations 2012: Academy Awards Nods Dominated by Hugo, The Artist

HOLLYWOOD (LALATE) – The Oscar nominations were announced today with The Artist and Hugo dominating the Academy Awards nods. Hugo lead today’s Oscar nominations with eleven. The Martin Scorsese’s film was nominated for best film as well.
The Artist made news today with ten nominations. Those nominations included a best-actor nod for Jean Dujardin and a supporting-actress nomination for Berenice Bejo. Other nominations for the Artist included directing and writing.
The best picture nominees are War Horse, the Artist, Moneyball, The Descendants, the Tree of Life, Midnight in Paris, the Help, Hugo, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
George Clooney will go up against friend Brad Pitt for a best actor Oscar this year. Lead actor nominations went to Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman, Jean Dujardin, George Clooney, and Demián Bichir. Lead actress nods were picked up by Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams.
Making news in the category of supporting actor were nods for Kenneth Branagh, Nick Nolte, Christopher Plummer, and Max von Sydow. And winning bids for supporting actress were Octavia Spencer, Janet McTeer, Melissa McCarthy, Jessica Chastain, and Bérénice Bejo.
