ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Part of the King Of Prussia Mall has been evacuated today because of a suspicious device. Part of King Of Prussia Mall is on lockdown following a partial evacuation today January 4, 2012. A suspicious device near or inside the food court prompted the security alert midday.
The mall is confirming to local news that the lower section of Bloomingdale’s court is currently under evacuation. Police, however, are scouring the rest of the mall. No suspect has been identified.
Officials confirm to news that police, fire and SWAT are on scene. No confirmation of a bomb threat has yet been released to local news.
The discovery of a suspicious device inside a flower pot today prompted the alert. The device was found inside the pot around 2 pm local time, Upper Merion Police tell news. Police were dispatched promptly to the Court at King of Prussia.
Online reports of a “live grenade” being found have not yet been confirmed by police. Police have yet to indicate the nature of the device found. The food court is closed. A press conference from Upper Merion Police Department is expected within the hour.
