J. Cole Not Dead – False Jet Ski Death Rocks Rapper

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – J. Cole is not dead. J. Cole today is battling a fake jet ski death report, an allegation that he died in the Turks and Caicos while on vacation. J. Cole wasn’t on vacation in Turks and Caicos, wasn’t on a jet ski, and isn’t dead. If the fake death report sounds familiar, it should. The same author previously used the same erroneous tale to kill off Tamra Barney. J. Cole, Eddie Murphy, and David Guetta all battled fake death reports in the last twenty-four hours.
While it’s not too often that a Real Housewife of Orange County faces the same fate as a rapper seen in Beyonce’s trailer park (“Party”), today it happened. In November, Tamra Barney was furious that the dubious Global Associated reported that she had died jet skiing. Barney said the fake news prompted friends and families to call her asking her if she is alive.
Barney told news at the time “for those of you that have been asking, I am very much alive.” Barney later added “I guess I better call my mom before she starts freaking out…she is one of those that believes everything she reads.”
Barney returns to OC Housewives this January. This fall, J. Cole, in contrast, hit the trailer park with Beyonce for the ubber hit Party. And while Global Associated disclaimed their report as false in small print, many fans fell for the fake report.
In recent months, the website most often killed off music celebrities with their dubious Route 80 car crash story, and killed off film actors with the repeated Zermatt snowboard crash story. But the mercurial, and less frequent, Jet-Ski story surprised fans last night.

Just weeks ago, J. Cole battled other fake reports as well. In fall 2011, false reported surfaced that he had a scandal tape with Rihanna. Rihanna’s rep disputed the allegation, stating “Rihanna is surprised because there is no … tape.” In June, J. Cole made news by becoming Rihanna’s opening act. In July, Rihanna confirmed news that Cole had been upgraded to her official tour opener after the exit of Cee Lo Green.

J. Cole ends 2011 as a successful year. As the first artist signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation, his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story went to number one on the US Billboard 200, number one on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. It has also gone to number twenty-five in England and number four in Canada.
