LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – The Absolutely Fabulous Christmas Special 2011 will not air in the U.S., LALATE can report. The Absolutely Fabulous Christmas Special was set to herald in the new 2012 season of Ab Fab. But a quick perusal of Ab Fab’s US broadcasters’ programming slots reveals absolutely horrible news today.
Previews of the Absolutely Fabulous Christmas Special 2011 were released in November to fans and news. At the time, producers confirmed an air date for the 2012 season for U.S. viewers. The shortened 2012 season kicks off both on BBC America and LOGO on January 8, 2012.
BBC America says of the 2012 season “And come Sunday, January 8, the first of the “Absolutely Fabulous” 20th Anniversary Specials premieres on BBC America at 10/9c. It’s time to celebrate—Edina, Patsy, Saffy, Bubble and Mother are back and just as fabulous as ever, darling.” LOGO confirmed the same. In an interview with TV Guide this week, Logo confirms it too will debut the new season on January 8 on its cable channel.
But how about the Christmas Special? AOL reported the confusion last month. “The Christmas special is set to air in December on BBC. There’s no word on whether the special will air in the US.”
But LALATE can report that a Absolutely Fabulous Christmas Special is not scheduled to air on BBC America nor LOGO. A quick perusal of both broadcaster’s websites shows no mention of the special for its programming blocks between today and the end of the month.
