Ohio Earthquake Today Strikes Youngstown, Warren

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – A strong Ohio earthquake today has struck east of Cleveland. The Ohio earthquake today Saturday, December 31, 2011 rocked the region moments ago, five minutes after 3 pm local time. No reports of injuries have been reported by local news.
USGS reports to news that it is still attempting to calculate the depth of today’s Ohio earthquake. But initial indications put the quake striking close to the earth’s surface. USGS details to news that, at 3:04 PM today, a moderate 4.0 magnitude quake struck the region. The quake is believed to have been centered only one mile below the earth’s surface. As a result, the quake’s impact was felt across a wide region.
The quake was centered closest to Youngstown, USGS reports to news. The earthquake was five miles northwest of Youngstown, six miles southeast of Warren. It was reportedly also fifty-five miles east of Cleveland, and one hundred forty-five miles north east of Columbus.

The quake was centered north of Interstate 80 and west of highway 11. It was southeast of Niles, north of Austintown, and west of Churchill. USGS indicates to news that the quake was southeast of Warren, north of Boardman and Poland, and south of Howland Center.
Local news reports a flurry of telephone calls and emails by residents in Akron and Fairview Park, feeling the quake moments ago.
