CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Aftershocks continue today following the Peru earthquake last night. A Peru terremoto last night Tuesday, November 29, 2011 registered a strong 5.0 magnitude. Shortly before 10:30 PM last night, a strong 5.0 earthquake struck Peru’s central region. USGS indicates to news that the quake had a moderate depth, however. The temblor struck forty miles below the earth’s surface.
The quake was centered less than three hundred miles southeast of Lima, USGS indicates to news. The quake was closest to Puquio. The temblor was roughly one hundred miles from Ayacucho and Cusco.
A strong 5.0 magnitude quake struck Peru just four days ago. But as reported on LALATE at the time, that quake was not centered on-land but off the western coast. That temblor was eighty-three miles south west of Huarez and roughly one hundred miles south of Chimbote as well.
