San Francisco Earthquake Today Shakes Berkeley

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Another San Francisco earthquake today has rocked Berkeley. A San Francisco earthquake today, October 27, 2011, was felt in Berkeley, Oakland and the Bay Area just twenty-four hours after another quake in the same region. No reports of damage has been listed by local news.
Minutes ago another quake struck near UC Berkeley. The quake struck at 5:36 AM PST USGS reports to news. The quake was a magnitude 3.6. USGS indicates to news that today’s quake, like recent San Francisco quakes, was shallow. It struck only six miles below the earth’s surface.
Today’s quake was one mile east of Berkeley, three miles east of Albany and Kensington, and six miles north of Oakland. Thursday’s quake was west of Wednesday’s quake.
Yesterday, shortly before 4 pm, a 3.2 magnitude quake struck slightly east. It struck at a nominal five mile depth below the earth’s surface. It was centered near Blackhawk-Camino and Mt Diablo State Park, east of Danville.

Today’s quake was centered near the notable October 20, 2011 quake that drew national attention. That day, a 4.2 quakes struck roughly two miles from Berkeley. The quake was east of Emeryville. USGS indicated to news that the quake was only five miles from Oakland.

Thursday’s quake was near the UC Berkeley campus. It was east of 80 Freeway, near University Avenue. No reports of damage have been listed by low news.
In August this year, the Bay Area suffered one to two earthquakes roughly every day. They were predominately centered near San Leandro or Pinnacles.
