LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – When Honduras vs. Jamaica 2011 take to the field today (en vivo 9 PM EST), the Hondurans will hope to end a recent losing streak. Honduras was impressive in the Copa Oro; but since its summer run, the team has faltered consistently in International Friendly action. A win today could help solidify cohesiveness in advance of upcoming important matches. Click HERE for updates.
Honduras started the year in trouble, improved during the summer’s Gold Cup, but was back to inconsistent pay again this fall. In spring International Friendly matches, Honduras shocked news with failing to win a single match. It had a draw against Ecuador and El Salvador and then a stunning shutout against South Korea and China.
But during the Copa Oro 2011, Honduras turned it around. Reaching an impressive semi-finals round, Honduras was eliminated by the team’s champion, Mexico. And yet, as reported by LALATE at the time, Honduras lacked a strong offense. It had a draw against Guatemala and won only on penalty kicks against Costa Rica.
But since the summer, Honduras has fallen apart. After a 2-0 win against the strong Venezuelans, Honduras has been shut out in all three remaining International Friendly matches this fall. To the surprise of news, Honduras, hasn’t scored a single goal since August of this year, losing to Colombia, Paraguay and USA in consecutive matches without a single goal scored.
While the lineups might be different today, the last time the two countries met was in the Group stage of the Copa Oro; and in that game, Jamaica won, shutting down the Honduran offense. Jamaica will attempt to do the same tonight.
