Michael Jackson Death Photo Shocks Trial Spectators

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Michael Jackson death photo shocked jurors today in the Conrad Murray trial. The Michael Jackson death picture was shown today, years after publication of another picture of Michael created international controversy. Michael Jackson was showed dead on a gurney today during the opening statement of the Conrad Murray trial. The photo was used by prosecutors in their opening statement.

In the photo, Jackson’s eyes are closed, his mouth is protracted open. Prosecutors showed the grainy image with a caption added as “homicide”. While the jury is not under sequestration, the image was powerful, not just for jurors, but for the public outside the courtroom and spectators inside.

Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, on defense said that Jackson gave himself propofol. But jurors undoubtedly left the courtroom today remembering the above image.

Attorney David Walgren put up the picture in his opening statement. “What happened between that time and approximately 12 hours later when Michael Jackson is dead on June 25, 2009?” Walgren told the jury. “What you will learn through the evidence is that what happened during that time frame is that the acts and omissions of Michael Jackson’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, directly led to his premature death at the age of 50.”

“Conrad Murray, with his eyes on an anticipated $150,000 (per month) lucrative contract, instead agreed to provide Michael massive amounts of propofol on a regular basis in complete disregard of all acceptable standards of medical care,” Walgren added.

In summer of 2009, OK Magazine was under fire for putting a Michael Jackson death photo on its cover. The person who made the decision was Richard Desmond, owner of the magazine, who paid a reported $500,000 for the photo.

Months later, news reports claimed another Jackson death photo had been stolen as was being shopped to news sites. The report claimed that Jackson autopsy death photo was leaked by a “high ranking police friend” to a Los Angeles leading restaurant owner who kept it stored in his BlackBerry.

NASA UARS Satellite Crash Location Revealed, Near Africa

NASA UARS Satellite Crash Location Revealed, Near Africa

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The NASA UARS Satellite crash location has been revealed to news. The Satellite crashed near Africa in the Indian Ocean, NASA confirms in a news statement today. The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite is not located near any continent. NASA tells news that UARS crashed in a location that did not impact any landmass or organisms.

In what NASA dubs as its “final” briefing on the UARS crash, it confirms that it consulted with local and national government agencies before releasing its comments. It also dispelled any reports that the UARS broke apart and left different sections of debris across the planet. Rather “NASA is not aware of any possible debris sightings from this geographic area.”

NASA confirmed the location to news as an “over a broad, remote ocean area in the Southern Hemisphere, far from any major land mass. The debris field is located between 300 miles and 800 miles downrange, or generally northeast of the re-entry point.”

NASA does not believe much debris survived re-entry before the crash. “UARS broke into pieces during re-entry, and most of it up burned in the atmosphere.” NASA is precise to news about how many components landed in the water. “Twenty-six satellite components, weighing a total of about 1,200 pounds, could have survived the fiery re-entry and reach the surface of Earth.”

Michael Jackson 100 North Carolwood Home Dominates Conrad Murray Trial: EXCLUSIVE

Michael Jackson 100 North Carolwood Home Dominates Conrad Murray Trial: EXCLUSIVE

LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Michael Jackson’s rented home at 100 North Carlwood (photos below) dominated Conrad Murray opening statements today. Michael Jackson fans flooded 100 North Carlwood Drive in Bel Air after his death, prompting street closures near the Beverly Hills border. Today, the attention in a Los Angeles courtroom was back on the place where Conrad Murray was treating Jackson.

Six months before Jackson’s passing, LALATE first broke news that Jackson was renting the home located in a section of Holmby Hills. The home was minutes east of UCLA Medical Center where Jackson was rushed to in his final moments.

Jackson began renting the home around December 2008, LALATE first reported. It was believed at the time that the rental was between Jackson’s camp and Roxanne Guez. Guez was the wife of an Ed Hardy head.

Throughout 2008, Jackson was very close with Ed Hardy’s Christian Audigier; the two announced several anticipated business deals that year. But Jackson made news during a very rare public appearance for Christian Audigier’s birthday with Britney Spears that year.

After months of isolation in 2008, Jackson finally made his first major appearance at Christian Audiger’s birthday. Then, in the weeks that followed, reports confirmed that Jackson was staying at 100 North Carolwood. Ironically, only in October 2008, Guez had reportedly joined Ed Hardy as its new Chief Executive.

In June 2008, Audigier told news that he was launching a fashion label with Jackson. “It’s the merging of the King of Pop with the king of fashion. Something explosive is going to happen,” Christian told PEOPLE at the time. The Jackson label was set to debut at Kitson reportedly.

“Michael Jackson is an international pop icon who has had a huge following throughout his career. I think people will think it’s hip to wear his line. Through all his ups and downs people still love him. He still has a huge fan base,” said Kitson owner Fraser Ross to PEOPLE.

After Jackson’s passing, reports claimed that Christian Audigier wanted to buy Neverland Ranch. It remains unclear what eventually happened with the deal. “I can have the house in one month now,” Audigier told news at the time. “I get the keys two weeks from today.”

Then during a September 3, 2009 news interview, Audigier  told news that the Holmby Hills home was owned by the boss of his company, Hubert Guez, when Jackson died.

With HLN and other tv news channels now devoting around the clock coverage of Jackson’s final moments before his death, attention is expected to be back on the mansion and what transpired between Jackson and Murray. Moreover, news reports have confirmed that both the prosecution and defense will focus on Murray’s interaction with LAFD when Jackson was taken from Holmby Hills to Westwood’s UCLA Medical Center.

Just months ago, Hopespring Drive in Chickasaw Oaks, and Suburban Drive in east Orange County was the focus of a nation. HLN news reporters continued to visit the location of Caylee Anthony’s remains. They analyzed the path from the Anthony family house to the location of Caylee’s remains. While LAPD has yet to confirm to news if street closures will be in place during the Murray trial,  the Orange County Sheriff’s Office had to restrict traffic around the Anthony family home in the Chickasaw Oaks subdivision during the Casey Anthony trial.

Dinora Rodriguez Photos Used in New Plastic Surgery Awareness Campaign

Dinora Rodriguez Photos Used in New Plastic Surgery Awareness Campaign

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Photos of Dinora Rodriguez, aka the uniboob victim, are being used in a new plastic surgery awareness campaign launched to advise the public about the hazards of non certified physicians. Dinora Rodriguez was left with a uniboob (or one breast) after her breast implants were installed incorrectly. Rodriguez entered a plastic surgery procedure with complaints of leaking breast implants from two breasts. She left the procedure with only one breast and eye lids that never would close.

Dinora Rodriguez was referred the unknown physician by a friend. Unbeknownst to Dinora, her surgeon was not board-certified. She complained of two leaking implants. But when she woke up, she had symmastia. With symmastia, the implants merge together in the middle.

Her horror didn’t end there. During the procedure, the doctor realized Dinora had a scare near her eye. So without Dinora’s permission, he gave her eye lift, also done incorrectly. Now she can’t shut her eyes close.

Dinora Rodriguez has since had corrective surgery. All the previous horrors have been corrected. Now she is teaming up with the American Board of Plastic Surgery to advise the public of the horrors of using unqualified surgeons. Incorrectly, it is still legal in 48 states for doctors who are not certified by the board of plastic surgeons to still practice plastic surgery. Malcolm Z Roth, ASPS President, in a news statement says “Patients are getting injured, some are dying during procedures performed by non-board-certified plastic surgeons.”

‘We want patients to understand what to ask their doctor and what to look for so that they can maximize their chance of a safe and successful procedure.” She adds “There is a misconception among consumers that as long as a doctor is certified in a medical field that he or she is qualified to practice plastic surgery. This is absolutely wrong and it is dangerous for patients.”

Sacramento Kings Move – Anaheim Royals Expected for 2012-2013 Season

Sacramento Kings Move - Anaheim Royals Expected for 2012-2013 Season

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Sacramento Kings are expected move to Anaheim for the 2012-2013 season, and name change to the “L.A. Royals” or “Anaheim Royals”. That news would nominally heat up an ESPN broadcast. But last night, the tensions were revealed on an unlikely non-basketball network: Bravo. In advance of Monday’s broadcast, LALATE had predicted that Adrienne Maloof’s issues with the Sacramento Kings move might just become a Bravo blockbluster. The prediction came true. By evening, the Kings move became one of the biggest stories in cable programming last night.

The Real Housewives franchise has constantly been under fire for manufacturing fake storylines that viewers don’t care about. Whether it was the New York housewives arguing about seat assignments in a Moroccan van, or the Jersey housewives arguing about their swimsuits in Punta Rasa, Bravo has been under fire for delivering trivial storylines that potentially aren’t real and definitely have no significance.

Last night that was definitely not the case. Adrienne Maloof, with a bodyguard by her side no less, tackled the troubles of a NBA franchise move. Her family’s team, the Sacramento Kings, were headline news in April of this year. Anaheim wanted them to move, Sacramento didn’t want them to leave. Sacramento’s Mayor was slamming the Maloofs in the news at the time, the City was threatening Anaheim, and the future of team left fans irate.

So in advance of this season of RHOBH, LALATE questioned if Adrienne Maloof would have ever allowed Bravo cameras to record some of the tensions at the time. She certainly did, as she tackled the team’s move in a second of two episodes that premiered Monday night.

The Sacramento Kings had previously played in Rochester and Cincinnati as the Royals. Even recently, they often featured old Royals jerseys in home games in Sacramento. But in Spring 2011, LALATE broke that the Maloofs are seeking trademark protection for the “L.A. Royals” and “Anaheim Royals”.

So are the Sacramento Kings making the move? The Kings have not officially confirmed the team’s move. But they have informed the NBA that they will move the team in advance of the 2012-2013 if a deal is not reached with Sacramento.

Yet, the Sacramento Kings are still expected to move to Anaheim’s Honda Center for the 2012-2013 season. On May 2, 2011, Adrienne Maloof’s family (the Maloof Sports and Entertainment) confirmed to news that the team will not move this upcoming season (if there is one). “Out of respect to Kings fans and the regional business community, we have decided to remain in Sacramento for the 2011-12 season,” read the news statement “The fans’ spirit and energy, specifically our season ticket holders, has been remarkable, and we are truly thankful for their loyalty. We also are greatly appreciative of the support from our corporate sponsors as well as other local businesses that have come forward in recent weeks.”

Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson still wants the Kings to stay in Sacramento. That is unlikely to happen. Anaheim is ready to accept the team’s move.

“Anaheim remains an NBA-ready city,” said Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait in a news statement in May. “We are proud of the work that was done to bring an NBA team to Anaheim’s Honda Center. In particular, we protected the city’s taxpayers and the city’s finances from any risk by using private, not public, funds in the financing. As confirmed by NBA Commissioner David Stern, this process has shown that Anaheim/Orange County is a stand-alone market. With more than 3 million residents, Orange County is its own region – not a suburb. We believe that there should be more than one venue in Southern California to enjoy NBA basketball.”

Michael Schulman, chairman of Anaheim Arena Management, which runs the city-owned Honda Center, issued the following news statement in May. “We are disappointed in today’s developments but remain very optimistic about the long-term future of the NBA in Anaheim. We wish the Maloof family and city of Sacramento well and hope they are successful in their endeavors.”

He added “Since we began working toward bringing an NBA franchise to Orange County, we have maintained that this process is about getting a team for the fans, as basketball is a sport loved by Southern Californians,” said Schulman. “With the nation’s second-most populous region, one which serves as home to nearly the same number of people as the entire state of Texas, we are continuing our pursuit of an NBA team for our venue.”

Los Angeles Earthquake Today Prompts San Andreas Fault Concerns: EXCLUSIVE

LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Another Los Angeles neighboring earthquake today is prompting San Andreas Fault concerns. LALATE can report that today marks the third time this month that an earthquake has struck near the San Andreas Fault and within proximity to the deadly 1971 Sylmar Quake. In last four years in Los Angeles, it is rare to ever seen this much quake activity near the same fault line or near an epicenter a previous deadly quake.

The lower section of the San Adreas Fault runs from the 5 Freeway near Frazier Park to the 14 south of Palmdale. Just south of the eastern section of that line was the epicenter of the 1971 Sylmar quake. It was located just south of the 14 between Santa Clarita and Palmdale.

On September 1, a quake just south of the 1971 epicenter. Then two days ago, another quake struck north of that epicenter; it was also very close to the San Andreas Fault as it travels towards Quartz Hill. Now today, a third quake has struck to the west, closer. Today’s quake is south of where the fault reaches the 5 Freeway.

USGS reports to news that today’s quake was eight miles north of Piru, ten miles north of Fillmore and eighteen miles north of Simi Valley. The quake was forty-five miles north of downtown Los Angeles.

The 1971 Sylmar quake killed sixty-five Los Angles residents with a 6.6 magnitude. Today’s quake registered thirteen miles below the earth’s surface, USGS reports to news. It struck at 6:55 AM PST and registered 3.0 magnitude. All the quakes that have struck this month have registered around 3.0 magnitude and have struck in the evening or pre-dawn morning hours.
