LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Remarks by Morgan Freeman about the Tea Party tonight surprised some viewers (video below). Morgan Freeman called the Tea Party racist during a Piers Morgan Friday interview. Morgan Freeman last made news about his divorce from wife Myrna Colley-Lee and hand injuries from his accident with Demaris Meyer.

Meyer sued Freeman in February 2009. Her attorney told news at the time “[T]throughout the course of dinner and afterward drinks were consumed by Freeman.” Shortly after the crash, Myrna Colley Lee and Freeman’s lawyers confirmed the couple had already been in divorce court and separated for some time. Freeman’s attorney at the time said the couple had been separated since the previous year. But during the two ordeals, Freeman was relatively quite about the matters. Tonight Freeman was anything but quite about the Tea Party.

What did Morgan Freeman say? The Tea Party’s “stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves on term,” Freeman said. “What’s, what does that, what underlines that? Screw the country. We’re going to do whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.”

Freeman continued. “It just shows the weak, dark, underside of America. We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. ‘Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.’ You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water.”

Freeman added “Now you see how hard he’s tried and how hard they have fought against him”.
