LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Rachel Crow, 13, heats up The X Factor’s debut with Mercy by Duffy (video below). Rachel Crow is only a teenager but has stage presence that made an audience go wild on the premiere of X Factor tonight. The performance was significant for multiple reasons. Among them, Simon Cowell told viewers that producers were unsure how low they should drop the age qualification for the series.
Simon told her tonight that the age limit was a contested issue among Cowell and producers. “Rachel, we spent so much time deliberated so long on how low to take the age down on this competition. You are the reason why we were right bringing the age down on this competition” he told her and viewers tonight. “Two words, Rachel Crow we are going to be hearing a lot about you.”
Paula Abdul was amazing in the telecast premiere. She was assertive, and blunt, stating “Rachel I want you to know something, what you did is exactly what we need people to do on this stage.” She added “You delivered the goods on every level, with personality, you opened up your mouth to sing, and blew us away. “
Cheryl Cole would ultimately not become a judge for the entire season. But she appeared during tonight’s pre-taped audition. She told Crow “You had me before you ever sang and then when you did, I said “wow, we found ourselves a little star”.
