Ryan Dunn Joke at Charlie Sheen Roast by Amy Schumer Prompts Debate

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Ryan Dunn “joke” by Amy Schumer at the Charlie Sheen roast prompted massive online debate last night. Amy Schumer referenced Ryan Dunn during the Charlie Sheen roast in a way that prompted heated Twitter debate Mondaynight; viewers were split as to whether the joke was not funny and disrespectful, or whether it was appropriate for a roast.

Amy Schumer’s remark reportedly stated that Steve-O must be have been thinking, following the death of Ryan Dunn, “it could have been me” and everyone else was thinking “why wasn’t it?” After Schumer’s remark, telecast cameras panned to Steve-O. He reportedly was not amused.

Between roughly 8 pm PST and 6 am PST today, there were roughly one thousand tweets remembering Dunn and debating the appropriateness of the joke. The comments were split.

Some found the joke not funny and purely disrespectful. “People are just so disrespectful sometimes. If you’re hating on Ryan Dunn, get a mirror & contemplate you pathetic existence” wrote one person early Tuesday morning. Many others agreed, including one person who wrote “I know it’s a roast but that Ryan Dunn joke was going overboard. I couldn’t believe the look on @SteveO face.”

Yet, many disagreed. “I loved Ryan Dunn & wasn’t offended by @amyschumer comment. It was a roast people, he would have laughed.” Countless viewers thought that the joke was appropriate for a roast and that Dunn would have liked the joke himself. One wrote “Anyone who feels like Amy Schumer crossed the line with a Ryan Dunn joke at the #sheenroast, it’s your fault for thinking there’s a line at a roast.” Another added “Ryan Dunn would have wanted the joke to be said.”

In June Ryan Dunn and Zachary Hartwell had left a local drinking establishment in the early morning hours. Dunn was at the wheel of a supercharged Porsche, Hartwell was his passenger. Hartwell was Dunn’s production assistant on the movie “Jackass Number Two.”

Police confirmed that Dunn went off the four-lane highway, hit a right guardrail, and crumpled the structural membrane of the rail. The impact of the car crash sent the Porsche into trees or brush off the road. Upon impact the Porsche burst into flames. Virtually no recognizable structure of a vehicle was visible when emergency response arrived.

I think that if Ryan Dunn would of laughed at that joke and would of wanted it to be said, don’t you think the person there who knew him best (Steve-O) would have been laughing? He wasn’t.

Dunn caused his own death, driving at twice the DUI limit and at 130mph, and killed an innocent person.

    This crossed no lines.
