Selena New 2012 Album Confirmed by Father

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Could a new Selena album be arriving in 2012? Selena Quintanilla fans could have a new album available in the immediate future, reveals her father Abraham Quintanilla to news this weekend. After Selena’s death, “Dreaming of You”, her English language crossover, went on to sell 300,000 copies in its first week alone. Now a 2012 album is on its way.
Selena was the queen of Tejano music, traditionally male dominated. She bridged the gap between Latin and American music markets. Selena helped pave the path for the crossover of Latin singers into the English music market.
Selena was dubbed the top Latin artist of the ’90s. Selena became the best selling Latin artist of the decade by Billboard Magazine, who even at the time was charting new categories of music.
Fourteen top ten singles and seven number ones earned Selena Quintanilla the title of Queen of Tejano music. “Selena VIVE”, a live stage broadcast on Univision, became the highest viewed Spanish language program in American TV history at the time, generating a 35.9 Neilson household rating.
Now Selena’s dad confirms that a new CD will arrive next year. “I own 5 Selena tape masters from pre-EMI times. There’s a total of 50 songs. We picked 10 of those songs and we’re currently working on refreshing the music. We want to rejuvenate their sound, bring them up-to-date.” The music was recorded in Selena’s mid teen years.
The film “Selena” made Jennifer Lopez a household name even though JLo was not allowed to sing in the movie. Appearing opposite Lopez was Edward James Olmos as Selena’s father Abraham Quintanilla, Jr., and Jon Seda as Chris Perez.

I’m very excited to hear the revise Cd. I think it would be great! I know that it may have been tough on her father redoing this for Selena but I know in the end her fans would fall in love with her all over again like she is still here even though she’s gone. I’m so glad that her family still keep her memories alive!
