Who is the biggest pop singer of our time? In a new poll released by Univision news, Latin viewers were asked a series of questions about English and Spanish language artists. While news reports always appear to suggest one celebrity is more popular than anyone, this fan-determined survey released by Univision news will shock you.

When asked who is the most famous Latin singer of our time, sixty-two percent of Univision viewers chose Ricky Martin. “¿Qué latino es el más famoso a nivel mundial?” Ricky Martin generated over three thousand votes.

Ricky Martin’s closest competitor was Shakira with seventeen percent. Chayanne, Jennifer Lopez, and Enrique Iglesias each pulled six percent with Pitbull drawing only forty-five votes. But who is the biggest pop singer of our time? Latin America viewers did not believe it was Rihanna, with only one percent choosing the hit maker. Rather, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga topped the list, nearly double the number of votes compared to Madonna.

Ricky Martin also came atop another survey. When asked what was the biggest moment of the Premios Juventud, Univision news viewers said “Antonio Banderas recibiendo su premio de manos de Ricky Martin”.
