Casey Anthony Pontiac Sunfire Sale Could Fetch $1 Million

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Casey Anthony Pontiac Sunfire that allegedly carried Caylee Anthony’s dead remains in the trunk will be sold, confirms George and Cindy Anthony. But now there are questions if the Pontiac Sunfire, that was the core of both the defense and prosecution case, could bring the Anthony family in excess of $1 million? The news comes as a piece of Casey Anthony memorabilia fetched that price tag yesterday, without even being involved with the Anthony murder trial.
Casey Anthony’s Pontiac Sunfire might seem like a piece of macabre. Who would buy a car that has an alleged smell of Caylee Anthony’s remains in the trunk? Perhaps someone that bid on an eBay mask costume of Casey Anthony yesterday. Two days ago, news coverage of the Anthony mask drove up its price from $10,000 to $20,000. By Wednesday morning, the price jumped a another $5,000. But after the sale headlined national and local news websites and telecasts, the sale finished yesterday at nearly one million dollars.
Shockingly, the mask had nothing to do with the Anthony trial or the Anthony family. It’s simply a prop used in an upcoming parody film about Casey Anthony.

So how much could the Sunfire go for? The sky could be the limit, far in excess of $1 million. The price tag might also race up because the benefactor of the sale won’t be Casey Anthony, or even George and Cindy Anthony. George and Cindy’s attorney tells news that the car’s sale would benefit a foundation set up for Caylee Anthony. In essence, that car’s sale could benefit a foundation set up for the victim whose dead remains were allegedly transported in the car’s trunk.

During the criminal trial, Cindy Anthony said that she and husband George Anthony bought the Pontiac Sunfire for Lee Anthony. She said that, when the Pontiac was bought, it had those stains in the trunk. The State had claimed the trunk stains came from Caylee Anthony.
