LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Barcelona vs. Manchester United 2011 ended the first half today with a stunning goal by Nani. Eight minutes later, Jonathan Dos Santos got a yellow card.

Nani’s goal today was one his best in recent memory for Man United. In 2007, Naniwas sold to the team for a new five year contract. But he didn’t make his Premiere League appearance until August that year, a replacement for a foot injured Wayne Rooney.

Almost a year ago, Nani delivered the first goal for Manchester United’s 2010 season in its opener against West Ham United. Two months later, he delivered another goal against West Bromwich Albion, and then days later yet again against Bursaspor.

This year Nani was recognized as runner-up in the PFA Young Player of the Year Award. Last year he delivered nine goals and fourteen assists. His speed has been unmatched.

In fall of last year, Nani gave advice to Bebe about how to be successful under Sir Alex Ferguson. He said “Sometimes you try to show everything at first and things don’t go quite right.” He told The People “I’ve explained to him about the things I have learned. “It is important to try and keep things simple, get your confidence up, then show your quality.”

Ferguson had said of Nani previously that “His aim should be to be successful here. The ability was always there. He has got a tremendous instinct for the game.” He added t that Nani “is two-footed, quick and brave. He never misses a training session and always wants to play.” Score updates can be seen HERE.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Guyana plane crash today broke the Boeing 737-800 aircraft in half but didn’t kill a single person. Guyana reported the shocking news of the plane crash this morning; officials were shocked that the flight came in for a safe landing, yet broke apart, tearing the plane into two separate parts, but not killing a single person. Of the more than 160 persons on board, no person suffered any serious injuries. The worse injuries were a broken leg and a cut on the arm.

Guyana officials report to news tonight that the plane had already come to a landing en route from JFK International Airport. It made the landing effortlessly, prompting applause from passengers. But suddenly, the Boeing 737-800 began to skid. It went off the runway, broke through a chain link fence and tore into two separate parts. A sunken stretch of grassland brought the plane to a halt.

And yet Caribbean Airlines reported thereafter that only three persons were taken to a local area hospital.

Passengers report to news that crash unfolded swiftly. Some saw flashes of an engine fire. But most were unclear why the plane had landed smoothly, and then suddenly began to tear apart. The plane went across the entire 7,400-foot runway at Cheddi Jagan International Airport until it came to a stop. Local news says that the plane, had it skidded further, would have come to rest in a dangerous ravine, killing countless passengers.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Barcelona vs. Manchester England (en vivo on ESPN Deportes) will feature Wayne Rooney battling David Villa. Sir Alex Ferguson confirms to news a lineup adjustment in advance of today’s Barcelona vs. Manchester England 2011 showdown at FedEx Field. Talking the field for Ferguson will be Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, and Nani, facing off against Andres Iniesta, and David Villa.

Fans have awaited this match all month long. SportsNation calls today’s match “the best of England against the best of Spain, which as you might expect from this event, means it’s the best against the best.”

Ferguson confirms to news that Chicharito Javier Hernandez is out. Hernandez suffered a concussion against the MLS All-Stars. Also out for today’s match are Darren Fletch and Antonio Valencia.

Man United is expected to feature De Gea, Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Young, Carrick, Anderson, Park, Rooney, and Berbatov. Barcelona is expected to battle with Valdes, Abidal, Pique, Puyol, Fontas, Thiago, Busquets, Iniesta, Afellay, Jonathan, and Villa. Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez are on vacation after Copa America; Xavi is reportedly on the injured list. Villa is expected to be the biggest scoring threat to Rooney and Co today. Villa has delivered twenty-three goals last season.

Manchester United comes into today’s match after a stunning 4-0 win against the MLS All-Stars just days ago. Ferguson’s team has been undefeated in all four matches of this U.S. Tour. But can Man United win today?

They last faced Barcelona in the Champions League final where they loss to Barcelona 3-1. For fans, today marks Manchester United’s most important game before its season starts this August 14.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Photos of Bret Michaels and Tommy Lee with guns has prompted an investigation. Bret Michaels and Tommy Lee posed for pictures holding guns with members of the Rowan County Peace Officers Association. Local law enforcement from sheriff and police divisions were present. But shortly after the encounter, three members of law enforcement called a local news station to report they were launching an investigation; the subject of the investigation is not particularly clear.

Bret Michaels and Tommy Lee posed for pictures on a private property with members of the sheriff’s office and other police departments. But now one local official claims that ATF (The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) is investigating if Tommy Lee and Bret Michaels were allowed to possess such firearms, and if the encounter even amounted to a crime.

The unclear controversy erupted in North Carolina. A former Rowan County deputy took the singers out to shoot some rounds. But after they also shot some pictures, a local official got peeved. Sheriff Kevin Auten and two chiefs specially called up a local news station to fume that they are launching an investigation and that ATF is doing the same. ATF has yet to confirm that any investigation exists.

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Salisbury and Spencer police department officials went out with Lee and Michaels for the shooting. Michaels and Lee have yet to comment about the story.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Plaxico Burress is being pursued by the Giants, Eagles, and now the Steelers. But where will Burress land? Plaxico Burress last night me with Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. Local news is reporting that meeting as “positive”. But Burress’ meetings aren’t done yet.

While Plaxico Burress may have met with Coughlin, general manager Jerry Reese, owner John Mara, and group of others last night, he reportedly wants to go to the Eagles. This comes after news of the Eagles signing Nnamdi Asomugha yesterday.

Reese told news of the meeting “We bring people in to investigate if it’s a possibility for the New York Giants. We think it’s probably a possibility and we will see where it goes.” Phillip Dillard tweeted the news as well. “Seen plaxico 2nite he seemed happy and everyone they knew him seemed happy to see him again.”

Last night, however, Ben Roethlisberger admitted he has been pleading to the Steelers to bring Burress to town.

Ben told news that, per his requests, Tomlin has been in touch with Burress. “I’ve been talking to him. I’ve been talking to him the past couple months,” he said.”I talked to him the other day and asked him, ‘Would you be interested in coming here? I’m excited for him to come whenever he comes here.”
