David Wu Resignation Announced Following Tiger Suit Costume, Other Scandals

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – David Wu announced his resignation today after a Tiger suit costume scandal photo, admissions of assault during college and a recent allegation of relations with a donor’s daughter. Rep. David Wu said he will resign less than a week after accusations from a 18 year old female against the Congressional leader.

David Wu on Friday was accused publicly of having relations with a 18 year old daughter of a campaign donor. That donor is reportedly also Wu’s childhood friend. The encounter happened last Thanksgiving. The girl called Wu’s office this May leaving a voicemail furious about the encounter. Wu claims it was consensual. Wu says he will resign after the debt crisis is complete.

“With great sadness, I therefore intend to resign effective upon the resolution of the debt ceiling crisis. This is the right decision for my family, the institution of the House, and my colleagues” he said in a news statement today. His announcement followed a joint statement by Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley asking for his resignation.

In 2009 he separated from his wife. In Thanksgiving he allegedly had an aggressive “unwanted … encounter” with the 18 year old female. In February, he sent that infamous picture of himself in Tiger costume suit to his staffers. In May, the 18-year old female called up his staff complaining about the Thanksgiving encounter.

At age 21 Wu was accused of assault against his then girlfriend at college. But in 2004, he admitted the wrongdoing, roughly twenty-eight years later.

Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley in a news statement today said “The accusations against David Wu are both jarring and exceptionally serious.” The added “This is a critical time for our state and our nation and Oregonians need every member of their Congressional delegation to be effective. While no one takes pleasure in asking a colleague to resign, we believe he can no longer be an effective representative for our shared constituents and should, in the best interest of Oregon, step down.”

Tully Banta-Cain, Marc Colombo Cut; Dolphins Sign Pat Devlin

Tully Banta-Cain, Marc Colombo Cut; Dolphins Sign Pat Devlin

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Patriots are going to cut Tully Banta-Cain. Tully Banta-Cain will be released on Thursday, Adam Schefter is reporting.
Tully Banta-Cain is among the various trades and signings already announced early this Tuesday.

The Packers have reportedly told Nick Barnett he will be traded; if trades stall, the Packers have reportedly decided to release Barnett. Elsewhere, Tim MacMahon is reporting news that the Cowboys will cut Marc Colombo.

Meantime, after being reportedly considered by the Raiders and Colts, Pat Devlin will be signed by the Miami Dolphins, Schefter reportedly this morning.

Tully Banta-Cain rejoined the Patriots in 2009. He had been drafted by the Pats as a 7th Round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. He would play with the team until he moved to the 49ers for one season in 2007. In 2010, he was signed by the Pats on the first day of free agency. The contract called for a $6 million signing bonus and a $4.5 million per year deal.

Los Angeles NFL Team Starting in 2012 Before Farmers Field

Los Angeles NFL Team Starting in 2012 Before Farmers Field

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Will there be a Los Angeles NFL team playing here in 2012? Los Angeles could have an NFL team playing here starting the 2012-2013 season either at the Downtown Coliseum or Rose Bowl, reveals city officials yesterday. Could we watch the Los Angeles Chargers return, or will it be the Los Angeles Rams, Jaguars, Raiders or Vikings? All those teams have been contacted with the Chargers the most likely to make the move.

The Los Angeles NFL Football Stadium at the Convention Center got a major approval yesterday. But with it was an interesting side provision that will excite fans.

On Monday, the LA City Council approved a “Memorandum of Understanding”. That agreement concerned the plan to contract between the City and AEG. While fans have focused on Farmers Field, there was a restriction clause concerning next year.

The “Memorandum of Understanding” governed the financing, restrictions, and timeline for Farmers Field. AEG wants under the “Memorandum of Understanding” to begin construction on Farmers Field at the Convention Center in June 2012. If they begin construction that date, Famers Field would open on September 2016.

But, the “Memorandum of Understanding” has a key restriction. The City required that no construction begin until a contract has been signed moving a NFL team to Los Angeles. ESPN reports that the agreement requires, not just that the NFL team make the move by 2016, but that the team makes the move by commencement of construction. In essence, the City 0n Monday reportedly required that the NFL team be moved to Los Angeles by June 2012, if construction is to begin that date.

ESPN reports that, while Farmers Field is under construction from 2012 to 2016, the team would play in Coliseum or Rose Bowl.

Chief legislative analyst Gerry Miller in a news statement yesterday said “To be very clear, there is no public money in the stadium, none”. Miller added. “We are not financing the stadium, we’re not giving any land breaks on the stadium and they’re going to pay a market-rate land lease. There’s no public money in this stadium.”

Marvin Norwood Alleged Beating of Bryan Stow Denied By Mom

Marvin Norwood Alleged Beating of Bryan Stow Denied By Mom

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Marvin Norwood is accused of cutting out Bryan Stow’s eyeball and removing his tongue. Yet his mother tells news he is a charming person. Marvin Norwood lived at home, reportedly not just with his children, but also his assault rifle and four other firearms.  His mom says he is a hard working contractor. But Norwood allegedly went to work and bragged about disfiguring Bryan Stow to render his body “useless”. His mom says he would have never beaten Bryan Stow. But Norwood  is a suspect in attacking or harassing other patrons during the same Dodgers game before Stow, even a female spectator.

Marvin Norwood’s mother is worried that her son hasn’t eaten in jail. She tells local news that he look like he hated had a bite to eat or slept in a half year. But Bryan Stow remains heavily sedated, his tongue removed,  battling seizure medications, and struggling  to mouth his name to his own mother.

Diana Page of Hesperia is defending her son Marvin Norwood. She says LAPD has the wrong guy. Page says her son confronts problems with his heart, not his “not with his fists”.

Yet, when Norwood was arrested, police found in his home five firearms including an AR-15 assault rifle, KTLA reports.

Page says Norwood tries to help people, and works in construction. Yet that is not how he is described by other persons he allegedly harassed or attacked before Stow during the same Dodgers game. Police reports describe him and Louie Sanchez as a bunch of “very aggressive, belligerent ‘jerks’ “.

Bryan Stow’s mom previously told news she was especially angry at the get-away driver. Stow’s mother said that she spent the last Mother’s Day with her son battling permanent brain injuries while another mother was aiding the get-away of Stow’s attackers. Stow’s mother has yet to comment about Diana Page’s remarks.

Rebecca Nalepa’s Knots May Solve Case

Rebecca Nalepa's Knots May Solve Case

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Rebecca Nalepa was found with her hands and legs bound. Those knots may now solve her case, investigators told news today. Rebecca Nalepa (photos below) aka Rebecca Zahau was found with her arms still bound behind her back in one knot, and her feet bound with another knot. She was not hanging in a noose when she was found, even thought that is how Adam Shacknai (photo below)
reportedly found her. As detailed on Sunday, most readers contend it would have been physically impossible for Rebecca Nalepa to get into a hanging state unless she utilized certain types of knots. Today, local investigators confirm much the same in a statement to news.

Investigators have yet to confirm the type of knots found on Rebecca Nalepa. But readers assert she would have had to use a form of slip knots that would only require tension to tighten. But what if Nalepa didn’t use slip knots?

Local investigators tell news today that they are looking at just at that subject, specifically what type of knots were discovered on Nalepa’s arms and legs. If investigators were unable to recreate a suicide with the type of knots Nalepa allegedly used, then her death may have been a homicide, or staged suicide.

Nalepa’s clothing could be the other clue. Dr. Mark Kalish, a forensic psychiatrist with thirty years experience, has previously said that women rarely, if ever, hang themselves unclothed. He says the lack of clothing alone suggests someone (incorrectly) staged a suicide.

In a statement to news, Rebecca’s family did not directly comment on her death today. But they did say “Rebecca valued her life and lived her life to its fullest.” She also prided herself on being an inspiration for other young women. Her family said she was a “role model to her younger siblings.”

So why would she remove her clothes and then commit suicide? Family members have previously told news that under no circumstances would Nalepa have committed suicide.

Louie Sanchez, Marvin Norwood Attacked Others Giants Fans Also: Cops

Louie Sanchez, Marvin Norwood Attacked Others Giants Fans Also:

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood attacked other Dodgers spectators besides Bryan Stow, cops claimed Monday. Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood may have assaulted other Giants fans before eventually disfiguring Bryan Stow, claim investigators in a statement to news this afternoon. Moreover, investigators are asking specific spectators from that game to contact the LAPD swiftly.

In two news statements today, LAPD investigators suggested the type of clues there are searching for. But they would not indicate what prompted them to search specifically for those clues. At issue is Giants fan who might have seen Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood allegedly acting up earlier, and even assaulting, other Giants spectators.

LAPD Commander Andrew Smith in a news statement today said “We believe that these two individuals may have assaulted other people at the stadium”. Smith said that the footage might have been recorded by fans that day. “We’re hoping that anyone who has video tape or anyone who has any information about that, especially anyone in Giants attire, would contact us.” Witnesses are urged to call (877) LAPD-247.

On Sunday LALATE detailed that a Dodgers video eventually aided the arrest of Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood. Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood were reportedly being rowdy, prompting the fan to file a complaint about them and record it on tape.

LAPD investigators in a news conference today said that Brayn Stow allegedly was not Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood’s only victim. They claim that Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood also assaulted as many as three other Giants fans during that game.

In fact, Sanchez has been charged with an assault against another unidentified person that same day. He reportedly throw something at a female Giants while she was seated, police claimed today. Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood are reportedly suspects in two other attacks during that same game.

Today’s news conference suggests that the LAPD is far from finishing its investigation into Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood. The two men appeared in court today for their arraignment. But that has been moved to August 20, 2011. They remain in custody on $500,000 bail each.

Police are asking for people at the game “especially anyone wearing a Giants jersey” or sitting behind 3rd-base line.
