LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Mildred Patricia Baena’s family is disputing news coverage about the mistress. Mildred Patricia Baena has been the subject of multiple sit down news interviews by other persons this week. And while Baena herself has chosen not to publicly appear regarding the affair that she and Arnold Schwarzenegger kept from California voters during his time as Governor, Baena’s daughter tells news that Mildred Baena “doesn’t need to justify herself” anyone.

Mildred Patricia Baena’s news coverage took a dramatic turn this week when her (reportedly second) ex husband Rogelio de Jesus Baena granted a news interview to Entertainment Tonight. That same week, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s alleged second mistress, Gigi Goyette, granted her own interview to television news broadcast Extra TV. By weekend, images of the family functions hit multiple news websites; those images include Mildred Patricia Baena standing alongside Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, and the love child.

And while the family of Schwarzenegger’s mistress could have remained quiet, Baena’s grown daughter, Jackie Rozo, decided to grant a news interview herself this week. The interview was with Spanish language broadcaster Telemundo, an interview in English later rebroadcasted on NBC’s Today Show.

As to news coverage of Baena, Baena’s daughter Jackie Rozo told Telemundo that “It’s just a big thing because she’s Hispanic, and he’s a celebrity.”

Online reaction disputed Rozo’s assertions. Moreover, a quick perusal online reveals that news coverage this week has dominated Latin American news as much as U.S. publications.

Terra.com claims that Arnold Schwarzenegger ended his marriage when the scandal of infidelity broke.

Entertainment Tonight reported that the affair alleged destroyed Baena’s marriage to Rogelio de Jesus Baena. “Do you blame Arnold that your marriage broke up?” De Jesus responded “He guilty. He guilty he betray.” He added “I am angry you Arnold and Mildred betray you.”

News of that interview later appeared on Terra.com. The website would report “The former husband of Mildred Patricia Baena, Baena Roger said he would ask the mother of an illegitimate child of Arnold Schwarzenegger to speak … to his face and ask forgiveness, reported the Univision television network.”

While Gigi Goyette took to Extra TV this week to explain her allegations of being the actor’s second mistress, news of Goyette also appeared in Latin publication El Herald. The news publication reported both Goyette’s assertions and the actor’s responses.

Rozo suggested that coverage has been inaccurate but doesn’t explain to what extent.

“It doesn’t matter what any newspaper says… I know my mom, and her friends and her family, we all know her. The Mildred that they put out there…it’s just like….. rumours”. In the same interview, while Rozo says she knows her mother, she also reveals she too didn’t know for thirteen years that Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered her step brother.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A fire on Delta Flight 2284 today prompted some passenger injuries. Delta Flight 2284 attempted to land at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Saturday. During its landing, the Delta airline caught fire in the right rear section of the aircraft. It had blown a tire prompted one of its rear engines to ignite.

Delta Flight 2284’s troubles happened today during its landing from Pittsburgh to Atlanta. After landing, one of the tires on Flight 2284 blew. It then prompted a rear engine fire.

Airline officials confirm that emergency evacuations were deployed after the plane landing. During that evacuation, not during the landing, several persons suffered injuries, reports news. FOX is reporting that there were “only minor injuries after the passengers were forced to make an emergency evacuation of the plane on an airport ramp.”

Earlier other news reports claimed that the no passenger on board was injured. The plane was carrying forty-three passengers and five crew members when the drama unfold.

FAA officials, the NTSB, and Delta all confirm they are still investigating the case. An image provided by local news of the plane shows grey clouds of smoke surfacing from the rear right tire.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Giovanni Ramirez case for the Bryan Stow beating today revealed that it has been plagued by promises and delays. Giovanni Ramirez, one week ago today, was the subject of a search warrant issued for his arrest. By Sunday, LAPD and the Mayor held an elongated press conference promising residents that they had caught the “thug” that had been the “primary aggressor” against Bryan Stow (aka Brian Stow). Law enforcement promised that the suspect, then yet unnamed, would be charged swiftly. By Monday, suggestions indicated that the Giovanni Ramirez would be charged forty hours later.

Now one week later, Giovanni Ramirez has still not been charged. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has still not decided whether to prosecute Ramirez. And Ramirez, rather than be charged within 48 hours as required for non-criminals, is being held on a suspicion of parole violation, the nature of that alleged violation not disclosed to news.

A quick perusal online has shown reaction to the arrest of Ramirez has been split. Many comments have focused on the alleged vast list of witnesses, reportedly in excess of eight, who are prepared to give the same testimony in his behavior. Other comments have reacted to the detail by which a ten year old (Ramirez’s daughter) claims to remember the events of March now in May.

But as both sides have debated the strengths and weaknesses of the LAPD case, the Giovanni Ramirez case today is not as it was represented to the public last Sunday by LAPD.

On Sunday, after the arrest of Giovanni Ramirez, LAPD Chief Beck said “We had Bryan’s assault victim in custody”. But Beck would put Ramirez in a police lineup on Wednesday. “We are not going to give you the name of the individual we have in custody. … That person will be booked at Rampart tonight and his name will be released then”. Ramirez was never charged. By Tuesday the DA’s office never charged Ramirez, 48 hours after being taken into custody. Rather he was held on $1 million bail on suspicion of parole violation.

“Giovanni Ramirez is, and was, and has been our primary suspect on the Stow beating,” Police Chief Charlie Beck later promised to news. But those weren’t the words of district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robinson. The Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has yet to confirm a decision; the LAPD has not presented the case to the DA; and the DA has not suggested that it will prosecute Ramirez.

Beck told residents last Sunday “To be a police department in this city, it has to be effective. We have to be effective to put this thug in custody.” But does LAPD have its “thug”?

Beck admits to news that a lot of work remains to be done. “This investigation is in early stages. There are at least two additional suspects wanted.” Neither has been located, a second male and early twenties Latina getaway driver.

Next week, however, could be a dramatic change for Ramirez. Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley will eventually be presented the case “in the near future” claims Beck. But legal analysts disagree. Ramirez next Wednesday will reportedly be before a parole hearing to determine if he violated his parole. If no probation violation is found, Beck may have to charge Ramirez within forty-four hours or release him, rather than simply present the case “in the near future”.

“I can’t jeopardize the case by giving out any more information” Beck has told news. While one or more witnesses who participated in Wednesday’s police lineup identified Ramirez as the person who beat Bryan Stow, Beck says he doesn’t care what his critics say. He says he has “an abundance” of evidence beyond just witness identification and testimony. Others disagree. One legal analyst tells news this week that there is no blood and no DNA evidence to link any suspect, in the case.

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – When news of Mark Haines’ death was announced on CNBC Wednesday, fans and colleagues were left in shock. Haines’ cause of death was not announced to viewers but “his life ended too early” CNBC said later. As the financial markets close today for the three-day holidays, fans of Mark Haines are looking back on the incredible journalist, educator, and irreplaceable television personality that helped us wake up to often great news, often tragic news event, and guide us through the maze of the financial markets.

The death of Mark Haines prompted CNBC to declare it had “lost a part of its heart and its history”. Haines died during the night this week, his cause of death never released in obituary notices thereafter.

Not only did Haines have an immeasurable presence on the financial markets for two decades, he enlightened and delighted us. “For 22 years on Wallstreet, before there was an opening bell, there was a Mark Haines” said CNBC.

Haines revolutionized how the news industry could report the financial markets. Thirty years ago, business news was often reported through stuffy newspapers printed on yellow page and spearing ink with no flavor and certainly nor spark, but boasting dryness and drag. Haines however came in and changed that.

”When he joined the new CNBC in 1989 … he joined a team of relatively straight laced news members” is how the broadcaster described Haines’ entry. “Mark Haines couldn’t be held back.”

The broadcaster called him a ringleader. “We come together to honor the original ringleader of the Squawk Box band … If you met him once, you would never forget him… His life ended too early.”

On August 7 1995, he anchored what became “an instant icon Squawk Box. Patterned after a morning meeting on Wallstreet” the show gave energy, excitement, often humor, meaning, and perspective to financial markets that for decades were left for only the stodgy viewer.

“Haines was the ringmaster to a cast of characters. … Together they guided investors through the markets…. Yet he always kept high finance in target” said CNBC.
Haines guided Americans not just through business news but also news of historic proportions. Haines was live when the attacks of September 11 happened. “Who better to guide us through the day like Mark Haines” said CNBC.

Haines remembered the broadcast. He said once “I was feeling numb. I was just reacting to what I saw … I was very mindful of the fact that the people in those buildings were watching us, so I had been very careful of what I said.” Below is that video tribute.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A Jennifer Lopez Ojani Noa tape can be released by Claudia Vazquez, ruled a Los Angeles court today. Jennifer Lopez’s ex husband Ojani Noa reportedly was unable to release the tape himself allegedly pursuant to a confidentiality agreement previously executed between Lopez and Noa. For over a year, the tape has been a legal battleground between not two but reportedly three parties – Lopez, Noa, and Noa’s girlfriend Claudia Vazquez.

Claudia Vazquez reportedly had no confidentiality agreement with Lopez nor any other agreement which prohibited the commercial sale of the tape. After Vazquez sought to sell the tape, Lopez battled back. Noa is the Cuban waiter that Lopez was married two for roughly one year from 1997 to 1998.

But on Friday, a Los Angeles Court reportedly ruled that any agreement between Ojani Noa and Jennifer Lopez does not prevent the release of the tape by third party Claudia Vazquez, not a subject to those agreements.

The Court ruled “Vazquez argues she has and is suffering harm in that she has had difficulty in obtaining work as a result of Lopez’s attempts at enforcing the Injunction against her”.

It is not apparent from the Court’s ruling today why Lopez was opposed to the footage’s release. “Vazquez argues that Lopez, on the other hand, will suffer no harm if Vazquez’s preliminary injunction is granted. Lopez puts forth no arguments contradicting those of Vazquez and, in fact, fails to address this element of the preliminary injunction test altogether.” Accordingly, “the Court finds that the balance of the equities weighs in favor of Vazquez.”

What is exactly on the tape? Buyers will reportedly start finding out next week. The footage is reportedly described as home videos both professional and personal during the couple’s marriage and will marketed started next week.
