Derek Boogaard Cause of Death Prompts Autopsy Results

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Derek Boogaard’s cause of death is pending autopsy results, report officials to news today. Derek Boogaard’s cause of death remains unknown currently. But the Hennepin County Medical Examiner told news Saturday it will commence an autopsy on Boogaard today. The autopsy results, however, could take upwards of two weeks.
Hennepin County spokeswoman Carol Allis in a news briefing Saturday said that New York Rangers enforcer Derek Boogaard did not die of physical trauma. No foul play was found. Allis tells news that laboratory testing will take upwards of two weeks to determine why the 6′7” former Minnesota Wild player was found dead on Friday.
Boogaard had inked a deal with the Rangers just last year.
Joining the Rangers from the Wild (2005 to 2010), Boogaard was set to make $6.5 million. Rangers’ president Glen Sather in a news statement Friday called Boogaard exceptionally kind and considerate.
