Troup and Longview Tornado Puts Texas on Alert

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – A tornado moving through Troup and Longview is putting Texas east of Dallas on alert tonight. The tornado in Troup spotted within the half hour prompted alerts sounding across Longview, Texas moments ago. Northeast of Troup, Longview residents are being advised by local news of the tornado moving at a northeasterly progression, speed yet not confirmed. The news comes hours after an alert was issued from the NWS in Fort Worth.
Roughly one hour ago, the NWS informed residents and news of a tornado warning across the north central section of the state. The warning, in effect until 4:15 pm CDT, has yet to be updated to news.
But moments ago, locals confirmed a tornado spotting near Troup and alerts being issued in Longview. Also, the NWS is advising that a “severe thunderstorm with a history of producing tornadoes” was spotting west of Rio Vista. It’s path, says the NWS news alert, is easterly at 25 mph.
There is a second concern, however. The NWS is advising of a second tornado possibly two miles south of Glen Nemo tonight as well. As a result, the NWS is advising residents of Keene, Covington, Alvarado, Grandview, Itasca, and Venus that the tornado will be passing through their communities late this afternoon into early evening. Additionally there is a news alert for “I-35W between mile markers five and twenty-seven” says the NWS.
