Atlanta Tornado Warnings while Chattanooga Concerns Grow

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Atlanta and Trenton tornado warnings have been issued today as Georgia weather has worsened this afternoon. Trenton residents are preparing for a tornado spotted, and moving into Dade County, Georgia within the last half hour. Local news is claiming that the Trenton movement is severe.
Meantime, Chattanooga, TN is currently at the center of massive movement of thunderstorms that spans from Nashville and southward. It’s movement is heading in a north-easterly pattern, reports local news.
Within the last hour, three tornado warnings have been issued for Dade County, Georgia. The Weather Channel is reporting that the tornado concern comes from the “same cell that spawned [the] Cullman, AL” activity today.
Elsewhere tornado activity is substantial tonight. Joppa, Alabama is under a tornado alert after a movement was spotted. Also Alabama, Berry in Fayette County is of concern this afternoon. In Alabama, one tornado was spotted by radar near Huntsville and Athens.
And Chattanooga has been under alert all this afternoon with as many as three tornado alerts issued since midday today.
The National Weather Service in a statement to news today says that “tornadoes are likely this afternoon and tonight for much of North Georgia.” It adds that “A few … isolate tornadoes are possible for Central Georgia Tonight.”
The NWS updates news by stating the “primary hazards will be tornadoes, large hail, and widespread damaging winds for much of North Georgia. Especially far northwest Georgia this afternoon and evening” remains of concern. As to this evening, the NWS tells news that a “few tornadoes and severe thunderstorms are also possible across Central Georgia this evening and after midnight.”
