LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Carrie Ann Inaba and Jesse Sloan got engaged on Live with Regis and Kelly today. Carrie Ann appeared with Regis to promote the current season of Dancing. But early in the show, Carrie Ann also shot down reports of her engagement to Sloan, boyfriend of two years, during the telecast.

That of course changed thereafter.

Sara Crow reports that “Live” producers immediately changed the telecast’s mood, dropping the lights, adding a violinists, and of course, bringing in Sloan.

“Will you marry me?” Jesse asked Carrie Ann. “Yes, I will marry you” she responded. The engagement ring was a 2.5-carat Rafinity princess-cut ring.

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Today’s Tampa, Florida tornado (photos below) trapped patrons at Lakeland Airport. Tampa’s tornado, putting Florida on alert through Friday, trapped seventy people inside in the Sun ‘n’ Fun Aviation Fair at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.

The tornado earlier hit sections of Hillsborough County.

Tampa Bay online reports that the tornado may be moving near Brandon, was believed spotted near Bloomingdale Boulevard in Riverview, and is putting Bloomingdale, Mulberry and Bartow on alert this afternoon.

Western Florida remains on Tornado Watch until 10 pm this evening. A “Tornado Watch” means that tornado activity may develop. Sections of Hillsborough and Polk County were under Tornado Warning this morning. A “Tornado Warning” means that tracking or eyewitnesses have spotted tornados in the areas.

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Worldwide fans of Selena remember the life of the Queen of Tejano Music today. Selena Quintanilla Perez was murdered at age 23 on March 31, 1995 by her fan club president Yolanda Saldivar. Selena was the queen of Tejano music, a traditionally male dominated genre.

While fans have long missed Selena’s impact on their lives, many of today’s top music acts credit their careers to this Latin sensation that broke music, ethnic, and gender barriers. In the years following her death, a Latin explosion in English language pop charts would include Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and Enrique Iglesias.

After Selena’s death, “Dreaming of You”, her English language crossover, went on to sell 300,000 copies in its first week. Chris Perez years later would eventually remarry.

Selena was dubbed the top Latin artist of the ’90s. She became the best selling Latin artist of the decade by Billboard Magazine. At the time, there wasn’t a Latin Grammys and many of today’s Latin charts were not even in existence. Fourteen top ten singles and seven number ones earned Selena Quintanilla the title of Queen of Tejano music.

Worldwide remembrances of Selena are scheduled for Thursday.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Lesley Herring, sister of actress Aasha Davis, remains missing. Tonight, Lesley Herring’s disappearance is covered by Nancy Grace. In a news statement to LALATE, HLN details that tonight’s Nancy Grace: America’s Missing “will be conducting an in-depth expose of 46-year-old Lesley Herring from Hollywood, CA who disappeared in February 2009.” Grace’s show “aims at finding 50 people in 50 days.”

First detailed on LALATE in March 2009, Herring disappeared in the Los Angeles area, leaving few clues. Her sister is Aasha Davis who has appeared in Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy, House M.D., E.R., & the Shield. Aasha is best known as Waverly Grady on Friday Night Lights and as Chelsea Lewis on South of Nowhere.

Aasha first reported Lesley missing in February 2009. Davis’ body has never been found. Husband Lyle Herring pleaded not guilty when charged with Lesley’s murder in 2010. Herring was arrested at the time at California State University, Northridge, his place of employment.

The LAPD issued the following news statement last year about the case. “Lesley Herring was last seen on February 8, 2009, by her husband, Lyle Herring. Homicide Detectives believe Lesley is missing under suspicious circumstances. Anyone with information should call Homicide Detectives at (213) 972-2915.”

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Yuri Milner (Digital Sky Technologies) purchase of the house owned by Fred Chan (ESS Technology) has set a record. Yuri Milner’s price of $100 million is the highest amount ever paid for a single family residence in the U.S., says reports today.

Of note, Ron Baron paid $103 million for a residence in East Hampton, N.Y., but that was 40 acres of vacant land with no single family residence on the property. The Fred Chan house is located in Los Altos Hills near Silicon Valley. It boasts a 25,500 home.

Who were the sellers and buyers? Chan founded ESS Technology which makes audio and video equipment. The Chans will carry at $50 million note on the house. The house was reportedly not publicly listed for sale. In addition to this home, the Chans are trying to also sell a 5.4 acre mansion on Oahu for $80 million.

Milner’s Digital Sky Technologies is a fund that has multiple Silicon Valley investments including a $200 million purchase of Facebook stocks two years ago.

Neither Milner nor Chan has commented about the transaction.
