LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Is Paris Hilton getting married? Don’t cue the wedding bells because one of Paris Hilton’s favorite publicity bits is back, only days after LALATE predicted its return. Paris Hilton is set to have a new reality TV show this spring.

As Hilton returns to our TV sets, so too have her publicity bits.

Last week, LALATE reported the anticipated return of stories about “engagement rings, faux-feuds, and fake spiritual readings at coffee shops.”  Sure enough, Hilton “sources” today reveal (drumroll) that Paris Hilton is shopping for a new engagement ring.

Are you surprised?

PEOPLE is reporting from a Hilton “source” that Paris and Cy Waits recently went shopping for engagement rings. Ironically, the PEOPLE magazine article appears next to an advertisement for Piers Morgan. Morgan and Hilton appeared in their own fake wedding report in British news two years earlier.

“They [Paris and Cy] shopped for engagement rings,” the source tells PEOPLE.  Paris recently told E!’s Ryan Seacrest that Waits will pop the question.

Of course, Hilton has said that before, to promote other projects.

In 2009, she told E! the same thing about Doug Reinhardt. “He’s going to be my husband” Hilton said in a news interview in April 2009. When mom Kathy Hilton was asking if she was planning a wedding for Hilton and Reinhardt, Kathy told news that month  “People ask me these questions all the time. I’m not planning any weddings anytime soon for either of them!”

Just months earlier, in 2008, Hilton told news that she and Benji Madden were set to get married and have kids.  That of course that news story had an faux-engagement ring with it as well.

Somethings never change with Paris Hilton. Yes, before there were covers on supermarket shelves of Kim Kardashian shopping for her own wedding ring, Hilton was perfecting the art of bling-icity for celebrity news sites.

In March 2008, Hilton was coy when asked by Las Vegas Mirage news reporters if her diamond BM Ring (BM for Benji Madden) was an engagement ring or just bling for publicity. The ring (photo above) may have worked for celebrity curiosity in 2008. But this is 2011. It may be a new year, but is it the same old Paris?
