LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Dubai Desert Classic’s leaderboard was crowded at the top going into round four. But Alvaro Quiros won the Dubai Desert Classic today as Tiger Woods fell apart in his final round.
Tiger Woods finished the Dubai Desert Classic in twentieth place. He was in shooting distance to take a win after two rounds after he shot a seventy-one followed by a sixty-six. But in the third round, Woods struggled, shooting a seventy-two. In the final round, Woods fell apart, delivering a seventy-five. His final round was the worse of any competitor in the top twenty with the exception of Sergio Garcia. Woods told news after the tournament that this week showed new positives but still indicated several glaring problems with his stroke.
Tiger still hasn’t won a tournament since the November 2009 Australian Masters, the longest drought of his career.
The big surprise was the performance by Alvaro Quiros. His worse round was seventy-three to start the Dubai Desert Classic. But after that, he delivered three rounds of sixty-eight to win the tournament eleven under. Finishing out the top five were James Kingston, Anders Hansen, Alvaro Velasco, and Jean Baptise Gonnet.
