NEW YORK (LALATE) – Maksim Gelman has been captured after blaming girlfriend Yelena Bluchenko for having “ruined [… his] life”. Maksim Gelman has killed four people, but that death toll could rise today after another stabbing Saturday morning on a New York City subway.
Maksim Gelman was being sought by police Saturday morning. They thought the 23 year old was escaping in a stolen Pontiac Bonneville taken Friday afternoon. Instead, Maksim Gelman was on foot, still in New York City, trying to escape by subway.
Shortly around 9 am local time, Gelman was reportedly spotted trying to board a New York City subway between 34th and 42d street. He reportedly went to the motorman’s door, banged on it, and shouted that “My girlfriend ruined my life”. After the motorman didn’t react, Gelman grabbed a passenger on the train and slit the passenger’s throat with a knife. That passenger remains in critical condition, their identity not yet revealed.
On Friday Maksim Gelman allegedly killed Aleksandr Kuznetsov, his 54 year old step father. He stabbed to death his girlfriend Yelena Bluchenko, 20, and her mother, Anna, 56. He then stabbed motorist Art DiCrescento, 60, who is expected to survive. Later, Maksim Gelman fatally struck a pedestrian while driving the stolen Pontiac. The victim is a 62 year old male.
