LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Friends are remembering Calyx Schenecker (photo above), 16, murdered by her mother Thursday. Calyx Schenecker and Beau Schenecker, 13, were murdered by mother Julie Powers Schenecker, 50, who was taken from her home Friday by Tampa Police Department. Julie Powers Schenecker’s facial reaction was vacant as she was photographed being escorted by police.

Julie Powers Schenecker allegedly killed her two kids for simply being “mouthy” with her on Thursday. Today classmates of both students have set up online tributes. Carlyx was an accomplished cross country runner; Beau was an avid soccer player. And yet, friends and classmates describe both students constantly happy and never in danger of harm.

Julie Powers Schenecker’s Facebook profile reportedly didn’t show any troubling messages. She recently blogged about Breast Cancer Awareness.

And while Julie Powers Schenecker gave exceptional details about how she killed her kids during a police interrogation Friday, she gave no motive for her conduct except that her kids had been “mouthy”.

She is reportedly in a Tampa hospital this weekend. Upon admission, Schenecker was reportedly shaking with wide eyes. Police tell news today that Schenecker killed her kids with a .38-caliber pistol that she purchased only five days earlier.

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – A Taco Bell beef ingredients lawsuit claims the chain uses excessive extenders in its food. Now Taco Bell is being criticized for over extending its public relations campaigns. Analysts believe that Taco Bell has spent in excess of $100,000 in public relations ad spots to battle the lawsuit’s claims. The suit allegedly is not seeking monetary damages, just a correction in Taco Bell’s claims about its products.

And while both Taco Bell and the plaintiff lawyers are disputing over percentages, one thing is clear: Taco Bell is selling a beef product that is not made 100% from beef and does contain … oats.

Taco Bell admits in statements to news that its products use 88 percent USDA-inspected beef and the rest is water, spices, oats, starch and other ingredients to create a “quality of its product.” But do consumers know they are purchasing those extenders and oats?

The lawsuit is brought by the Alabama law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles. It claims that the meat mixture used by Taco Bell violates federal standards for products to be called “beef”. The firm doesn’t specify in their complaint what percentage is beef. But one of the attorneys claim testing indicates it’s 35%. Dee Miles would not inform news where and what testing concluded a 35% amount.

But Taco Bell says that percentage is false, and that their product contains 88%  USDA inspected beef.

In Friday issue of the Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY, The New York Times, Taco Bell bought full page ads that read “Thank you for suing us.” The Tennessean claims that ” such ads in national newspapers can cost more than $100,000.”

Company president and chief concept officer Greg Creed posted a YouTube video this week about the same “So what’s the other 12%? It’s our secret. And I’m gonna give it to ya.” It wasn’t a secret earlier this week after the ingredient label when viral online. ” He claims that the product contains  3% water, 4% Mexican spices and 5% oats and other ingredients.

The suit concerns the assertions by Taco Bell that its product features “seasoned ground beef” and “seasoned beef”.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Simran Singh (photo below) and Jamie Pressly are divorcing. Pressly, who previously dated Eric Cubiche, has ended her marriage to  Simran Singh after less than two years.

The couple announced their engagement in August 2009. Shortly after their engagement the two took to San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel celebrating.

Pressly has son Dezi, 3, with ex boyfriend Eric Cubiche. The two ended their relationship in November 2008. Pressly once told Redbook Magazine “I’d like to be with somebody who isn’t afraid to take care of me – whether they have the same financial means as me or not.”

Now Pressly is seeking that her ex husband get no spousal support.

Pressly has filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court. She cites irreconcilable differences and December 27, 2010 the date of the couple’s separation.

ORANGE COUNTY (LALATE) – Is the Teutel empire going bankrupt, or is the Orange County Choppers foreclosure storyline an artful crafted twist to reality TV? Orange County Choppers did face foreclosure proceedings in 2010. Now that storyline strikes the reality show American Chopper. But while fans expect the frequent emotionally bankrupt father-son conflicts, there are no indications that OCC is heading to financial bankruptcy.

This month on American Chopper, fans learn that a business, which drove a father and son apart and prompted lawsuits, is now heading to foreclosure. But was that the case in real life?

According to Teutel Sr’s attorney, in 2010 there was never financial trouble for Orange County Choppers. Rather, foreclosure proceedings results from bickering over mortgage amounts. The assets that had depreciated in the latest recession and a bank allegedly refused to renegotiate the mortgage terms.

What do you do when you have a mortgage of $12.5 million on a building that is not even worth $8 million in the current economy? It’s not an unusual conflict in today’s economic climate but it certainly plays out for great reality TV conflict.

And while American Chopper is usually Sr vs Junior, this storyline is OCC vs GE. The mortgagor and a mortgagee couldn’t come to agreement on loan terms. But clearly producers did agree that it’s a great conflict for tv viewers.

The trouble stems from two mortgages carried by OCC through GE Commercial Finance Property Corp. One mortgage is $11 million, another is $1.5 million. In July 1, 2010, OCC missed both mortgage payments; but producers didn’t miss to capture the conflict. The payments added up to $96,400 and $14,000 installments due July 1, 2010. Orange County Choppers lawyer Richard Mahon says the mortgages needed to be negotiated since they were based upon a $12 million valuation a building now worth only $7-8 million. GE Commercial Finance spokesman John Oliver refused to comment about the foreclosure matter.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Juliani Cardenas was not found yesterday inside a Toyota removed from a California canal. The search effort for missing Juliani Cardenas on Friday focused on his alleged kidnapper’s Toyota Corolla.

The car was found by divers deep in a California canal. Investigators hooked up a cable between the car and a tow truck to hoist the Corolla out of the canal. Once out of the canal, the Toyota revealed no occupants.

Police had believed that Cardenas and suspected kidnapper, Jose Rodriquez, were inside the Corolla. Investigators are now checking the waters around the canal to see if the bodies floated out of the vehicle.

Two windows of the car were fully open inside the canal, state investigators to news Saturday.

Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson on Friday said that Rodriguez is their top suspect, accused of snatching Juliani from his grandmother’s hands on January 18. Rodriguez and the boy have not been spotted since. Rodriquez is the ex-boyfriend of Juliani’s mother.

Investigators today continue their search efforts downstream from the Toyota’s location. On Friday, divers battled freezing waters, zero visibility, and changing water levels.
