Brett Favre Gets Fine Not Suspension for Jenn Sterger Scandal: Report

Posted: December 29th, 2010 in Brett Favre, Jenn Sterger by LALATE

Brett Favre Gets Fine or Suspension for Jenn Sterger Scandal

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Brett Favre will get a fine or suspension for the Jenn Sterger matter, says reports. Brett Favre will be fined or suspended by the NFL when it makes it decision on Playboy’s Jenn Sterger (photos below) within the next 48 hours says reports today.

Moments ago, news reports confirmed that the NFL has reach a decision on the Brett Favre scandal investigation. Roger Goodell will announce a decision of his findings on Brett Favre within 48 hours, says reports. Adam Schefter is reporting that Favre will reportedly been disciplined. “NFL will announce a Brett Favre decision on Jenn Sterger case within next 48 hours. He is expected to be disciplined.”

Jay Glazer however is reporting that Goodell will rule Thursday and that Goodell will fine Favre not suspend the quarterback.

As reported previously on LALATE, a suspension of Favre could have a timing problem. Favre has an automatic 10-day appeal. How soon the NFL could hear Favre’s appeal and how soon the NFL could rule on that appeal is unclear. With the season almost concluded, there may not be enough time to for a Favre suspension to be enforced, if the Vikings quarterback files an appeal.

Jenn Sterger has said she would not file a lawsuit if the NFL disciplined Favre. Ironically, yesterday by some accounts was the alleged two year statute of limitations deadline for Sterger to file her lawsuit. Sterger has reportedly maintained the last act of alleged harassment by Favre as a Jet happened on his final game with the team on December 28, 2008. On December 28, 2010 Sterger did not file suit.

The Favre investigation began October 8, 2010 and still doesn’t have a resolution, yet. The Ben Roethlisberger investigation began on March 5, 2010 and had a Roger Goodell resolution by April 21, 2010.

Sterger’s reps were previously unhappy about the delay. “Everything we’ve seen over the last day and a half has been very, very troubling,” said Sterger’s rep previously. “I would certainly hope that the NFL would move quickly on this given that the season is coming near to its end,” adds Sterger’s lawyer.

Tucker Carlson: Michael Vick Should Have Been Executed

Posted: December 29th, 2010 in Michael Vick by LALATE

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Tucker Carlson (video below) says Michael Vick should be dead. Tucker Carlson said “I think personally Michael Vick should have been executed” while hosting FOX’s “Hannity” last night. Carlson’s remarks came as he commented on Obama’s comments about Vick.

Carlson added that Michael Vick “killed dogs…in a heartless and cruel way.”

Despite Carlson’s remarks, Vick has had an exceptional season. But now the President is under fire after his remarks to the Eagles’ owner were leaked to the news media.

In September Vick told news “I feel like I’m like 25 or 26 again, even though that’s not the case”. Days later, Vick was named the Eagles’ starting quarterback. Andy Reid said to news at that the time that “Michael did an exceptional job and my job is to evaluate the players. It’s my obligation to make the proper decision.”

Vick has been performing “out of his mind” said Reid while Vick himself admits that he has been performing like a much younger QB. The level of Vick’s athletic ability this season has been unmatched. As other quarterbacks have struggled these first weeks, Vick has been exceptional.

Obama Michael Vick Remarks Draw Criticism

Obama Michael Vick Remarks Draw Criticism

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Obama’s praises about Michael Vick are drawing criticism. But Obama’s Vick comments were not made in public, they were made privately between the President and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. This week, animal activists are jumping all over the issue. But is it warranted?

Obama’s comments were made recently in private phone call between the President and Lurie concerning Lincoln Financial Field. Obama didn’t call Lurie to talk about Vick but to commend Lurie’s reported decision to power his stadium with wind turbines and solar panels.

Then, Obama praised Lurie for hiring Vick. Lurie then revealed the private remarks to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King, who then ran the news story. “He said, ‘So many people who serve time never get a fair second chance.’ He said, ‘It’s never a level playing field for prisoners when they get out of jail.’ And he was happy that we did something on such a national stage that showed our faith in giving someone a second chance after such a major downfall.”

The White House has not commented on Lurie’s decision to convey the conversation to King. But White House spokesman Bill Burton did tell news this week “of course [the President] condemns the crimes that Michael Vick was convicted of.”

Burton and the White House immediately sensed that the issue was more heated than expected. On Tuesday, the White House even issued a news statement about the matter which stated in part “individuals who have paid for their crimes should have an opportunity to contribute to society again.”

And while PETA didn’t support the Eagles’ signing decision, Coach Andy Reid did. “This is America. We do make mistakes, and in this situation he has a chance to prove he is doing the right things and I think the fans will be excited for him as long as he continues to do them. He’s been proactive, speaking all over the country and working with the Humane Society.”

Vick told news following his signing with the Eagles “I knew it was wrong. It was unethical and inhumane. I paid my debt to society, two years away from my family. It was a humbling experience. I can’t express how sorry I was.”

Jenn Sterger Doesn’t File Lawsuit, Yet

Jenn Sterger Doesn't File Lawsuit, Yet

NEW YORK (LALATE) – Playboy’s Jenn Sterger (photos below) did not file a lawsuit Tuesday despite a looming statute of limitations. Jenn Sterger has threatened to file a lawsuit as the Brett Favre scandal investigation slowly dragged on. Earlier this week, multiple websites claimed that Sterger has a two year statute of limitations for claims arising out of workplace harassment, and that such a deadline tolls (expires) on Tuesday.

Yet, flushing out Sterger’s deadlines is about as hard as figuring out if she even has a viable cause of action.

Sterger’s own attorney, Joseph Conway, has allegedly told news just this month that any two year statute expires on June 2011, not yesterday. That date reported is two years after the last telephone call placed allegedly by Favre to Sterger. As Mike Florio points out, neither Sterger nor Favre were with the Jets by that date.

Sterger has allegedly claimed that her last communication from Favre while with the Jets was on Favre’s last game with the team on  December 28, 2008. As a result, insiders are speculating that, if Sterger was to file, her deadline was December 28, 2010.

As football fans remember, however, Sterger never allegedly asserted her claims against the Jets or Favre in 2008; when pressed for an interview with the NFL earlier this season she initially stalled, reportedly allegedly reluctant to even hire an attorney.

Equally, Roger Goodell’s handling of the Favre scandal investigation has been slower than any recent notable investigation. Ben Roethlisberger was started and ended between March 5 and April 21. Favre was started October 8.

On a side note, some websites have been speculating that Goodell may rule on Sterger’s claims today or tomorrow. As previously reported on LALATE, Favre’s right of an appeal, and the ending of the current season, may give little or no time for enforcement of any possible suspension against the quarterback.

Phil Reese, Sterger’s manager, has previously told radio “If the commissioner suspends Favre and puts a program in place to prevent it from happening again … 100%, Jenn would not pursue any litigation against Favre, against the Jets, against the NFL. Nothing. All she wants to do is clear her name. This is not about money.”

Jim Toth and Reese Witherspoon are Engaged

Jim Toth and Reese Witherspoon are Engaged

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – CAA agent Jim Toth (photos below) and Reese Witherspoon are engaged. Jim Toth and Witherspoon were getting serious earlier this fall as reported on LALATE in October. Today the couple confirmed their engagement.

The two have been spotted together since January. But Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth dating reports first surfaced in May. The couple were spotted together with Reese’ kids at the Recreation Center in Brentwood, California at the time. The couple were also in attendance at the Colin Hanks Samantha Bryant wedding at the London Hotel (West Hollywood) last summer. The couple were said to hang out even on Mother’s Day.

While reports at the time claimed the couple were dating, neither would confirm the news.

By fall, widespread reports claimed the two were serious. In October, Reese’s reps denied reports that the couple were engaged.

In 2007, Reese Witherspoon was then named the highest paid actress in Hollywood according to one report. It claimed that year that Witherspoon’s salary demand was $15-20 million per film, Angelina Jolie’s request was $8 million and up, and Cameron Diaz was $15 million.

This is Witherspoon’s second marriage. She was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe.

Chupacabras – Photos Reignite El Chupacabra Fears

Chupacabras Photos Reignite El Chupacabra Fears

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) -  Fears of the Chupacabra (photos below) aka El Chupacabra are reignited again. A Kentucky farmer’s claims his pictures prove the Chupacabra exists. For researchers, this is the latest in nearly a dozen sightings since 2009. But as reported on LALATE in three years, virtually every U.S. account has been disproven while one notable report out of Mexico remains a mystery.

In 2007, U.S. news was shocked the reported discovery of a Chupacabra here stateside. But testing on the discovered beast determined it was a coyote.

In September 2009, LALATE reported two alleged sightings of the Chupacabra in Blanco, Texas and in Cuero, Texas.  The 2009 sightings bared similarities. The beast had long teeth, a tail light a coyote, no hair, and legs longer than a coyote. But one trait was similar; the beast was never found sucking the blood of goats. The 2009 sightings were reportedly sent to a taxidermist near San Antonio. At the same time the Hall of Horns at the Buckhorn Museum in San Antonio even wanted the remains. Eventually the reports were disproven.

By July 2010, new sightings of the Chupacabra popped up in Florida and Texas. In fact, one bizarre report claimed residents found the Chupacabra in Miami.

By summer 2010, WOAI reported a Fort Worth rancher discovering a possible Chupacabra. The Fort Worth rancher heard a bizarre growl coming from inside his barn. When he entered, he saw one of the worse looking creatures his eyes have ever seen. A call to animal control resulted in the beast being killed. Animal control officer Frank Hackett told local news he was not sure what the beast was. “All I know is, it wasn’t normal. It was ugly, real ugly. I’m not going to tell no lie on that one.”

Eventually the Fort Worth Chupacabra was determined to be a coyote as well.

In 2007, Texas State University’s Mike Forstner tested a believed El Chupacabra. Forstner returned  to test the Texas 2010 animal. He believed what was found is simply a coyote, adding there were only three possibilities: it’s someone’s pet, it’s a coyote, or it’s a hairless dog species.

In each U.S. case, the story was often the same. The person reporting the discovery was a farmer who clearly doesn’t watch the news. The farmer would usually claim it was a beast he had never seen before. But news pictures of the beasts found from 2007 to the present all resemble each other.

But then, there was the Puebla, Mexico report in September 2010. That month, residents of Puebla, Mexico and Felix Martinez, president of Colonia San Martin, believed they found the Chupacabra. And the difference was this time …. goats were found slaughtered.

Martinez in September gave interviews to Argon Mexico (argonmexico.com) with pictures that show a field of goats, their necks chopped open. Even blood appeared to have been drained. It prompted local community leaders in Puebla to set up watch groups to protect their livestock this fall.

Reports in Puebla claimed that shepherds had found  300 goats slaughtered, with their necks cut open, in just fifty days.

Is today’s latest sighting out of Kentucky real? It remains unclear. But of all the alleged sightings in three years, the only convincing one show remains still the Puebla report.
