NEW YORK (LALATE) – Sylvie Cachay (photos below) is dead at 33. Sylvie Cachay’s death is confirmed by NYPD. Cachay died inside Soho House Hotel. Sylvie Cachay’s cause of death is under investigation.
Police found Cachay’s body at 3 am today inside the hotel located on 9th Avenue. Cachay was staying with Nicholas Brooks, Joseph Brooks’ son, says reports.
Cachay’s mother, Sylvia, describes her daughter as an enormous talent. She said Sylvie Cachay spoke four languages, was highly educated, had her own business, was loved, and was an exceptionally talented designer.
Police have yet to confirm the cause of death; but New York news is Thursday night reporting several scenarios. One scenario is whether Cachay was strangled.
Cachay’s website said she went to school at Parson Paris, followed by Marymount University (Virginia). At Marymount, Cachay won the Fashion Group International award for Best Senior Collection.
Cachay notes her fashion career started with a internship at Marc Jacobs. Cachay later joined Tommy Hilfiger where she moved up quickly, eventually being named Head Designer for Women’s Sportswear. By 2002, Cachay was name head of Victoria’s Secret swimwear team.
In 2006, Cachay went out on her own. Her line, Syla launched in Summer 2007. The name was derived from several different words including a tribute to her mother Sylvia.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
