Steven Pieper Killed Jenni-Lyn Watson Inside House: Cops

LIVEPOOL, NY (LALATE) – Police believe Steven Pieper killed Jenni-Lyn Watson inside her house then discarded her body in Clay Central Park. Steven M. Pieper got a phone call, however, from one of Jenni-Lyn Watson’s friends shortly after her disappearance; Pieper’s reaction tipped her Watson’s friend.
Initially police believed Watson left the family home on Friday morning without her keys. Family members told Erie-Times News that it was not like Jenni to leave without notifying someone.
Police now tell news that Watson never left the home. In a news briefing this weekend, District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said the Pieper on November 19 went to Watson’s home, killed her inside the house, and then removed her body. Fitzpatrick says Pieper plotted his murder. The same day Watson’s body was found, Pieper was arrested. After an eight day search, this was not the ending that investigators had hoped for.
Pieper was arrested over the weekend, booked in Onondaga County Sheriff’s Offices, arraigned late Saturday night before Justice Brian J. Lauri, and entered a not guilty plea. But despite that plea, police say that Pieper confessed to visiting Watson that morning of November 19 and going inside her home.
Pieper killed Watson in a means that left little traceable blood. The case turned, however, on cellphone records..
Watson’s phone, a Verizon LG en V3, had been turned on and off since she disappeared. Police say Watson wasn’t using it. Without giving details, police tell news that the phone calls directed them where to focus their search efforts. The phone was not recovered, but investigators say they know what happened to it.
Fitzpatrick thanked the public and the Sheriff’s Office for their work.
For friends close to Watson, the arrest of Pieper came as no surprise. Days after Watson’s disappearance, Jenni-Lyn’s close friend Mallory Otis called up Pieper to tell him the news.
Instead of crying or sounding distraught, Pieper exhibited no emotion over the phone, stating simply “I’m totally devastated.”
