CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Is the Post Office open on Thanksgiving? Is there mail delivery and service on November 25, 2010, Thanksgiving? That answer is no.

There will be mail on Wednesday November 24 and Friday November 26, the day after Thanksgiving.

Thursday is the next to last federal holiday for 2010. On Thursday, all federal, state, and local agencies will be closed; court houses will be dark; and related agencies and services will be closed. Post Offices will reopen the following day, on Friday, at normal hours.

If you want to get ahead on your holiday mail, you might want to start today. Post Office hours Wednesday are normal.

Each year, the OPM (U.S. Office of Personnel Management), issues that year’s schedule for recognized Federal holidays. The Post Office will also be closed Saturday, December 25 Christmas Day and Saturday, January 1, 2011 New Year’s Day.
