LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Brett Favre scandal could end its investigation Friday. The Brett Favre scandal investigation regarding texts to Playboy model Jenn Sterger (photos below) was set to end last week due to an absence of a Sterger interview. Now with that Sterger interview still not happening this week, the investigation could end tomorrow and head to the desk of Roger Goodell’s team.
In the end, Goodell could likely find Favre did nothing wrong. If reports are accurate, Roger Goodell may likely find no wrongdoing by Favre toward Jenn Sterger, no violation of the NFL Code of Conduct Policy.
Initially when the scandal erupted, the story was portrayed in the news media as Favre, as a Jets quarterback, allegedly soliciting the cellphone number of Sterger and then allegedly harassing her and sending her unsolicited texts. The story continued to play out as Sterger being portrayed as allegedly offended by the receipt of the texts, that text allegedly as not mutual and sent allegedly during Favre’s time with the Jets.
In the last week, several reports have indicated all the above may be completely incorrect.
First the texts were allegedly not just during Favre’s time as an employed NFL quarterback. New York news reports Favre sent texts to Sterger when he was unemployed in 2009 during a visit to New York.

Second, the texts may not have offended Sterger. In fact, if Sterger was offended by the texts, she would likely have to say that to the NFL. Without Sterger’s testimony, there could likely be no first hand testimony of Sterger’s reaction to the texts.
Favre has granted his interview and allegedly admitted to sending the texts. But did Favre think they offended Sterger? No says Allison Torres. Allison Torres claims she was a friend of Sterger, was present when Sterger got texts from Favre, and that Sterger laughed about them and shared details about them with her.
Third, the texting may have mutual, not unsolicited. Allison Torres claims Sterger and Favre mutually texted back and forth. Sterger’s rep today calls Torres’ claims false. But if Torres is accurate, or if Favre said the texting was mutual, then there is no harassment claim.
And finally, the material sent by Favre may be limited to only texts. Favre has allegedly denied sending Sterger photos claims reports. But even if Favre did send Sterger a photo(s), was Sterger offended by it? No says Torres. She claims that Sterger has received photos of unclothed men before.

Roger Goodell will need to determine if, without Jenn Sterger’s interview, did the Jets quarterback violate the Personal Conduct Policy. With a four to six week timeline since the matter started, the Goodell decision could come as late as week 11. If reports have been accurate, Goodell could likely find that Favre’s conduct was outside the workplace, even during the time Favre was not employed by the NFL, and that no evidence has been presented that the text communications harassed Sterger or affected Sterger’s ability to do her job.
