Frozen Vegetables Recall Strikes Kroger and Walmart

BELLS, TENN (LALATE) – A frozen vegetables recall has struck Kroger and Walmart stores. Pictsweet frozen vegetables distributed into select Kroger stores and national Walmart stores are under recall this 2010 weekend after concerns some packages may have some collections of glass fragments.
While produced by Pictsweet Company of Bells, Tennessee, the frozen vegetables take various other names. Officials on Friday tell news that in Kroger (NYSE: KR) and Walmart (NASDAQ: WMT) the items carry the “Kroger” or “Great Value” brand names. Pictsweet is advising shoppers this weekend not to eat the recalled frozen vegetables despite no reports of injury. Consumers with concerns may call Pictsweet toll-free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Daylight Time, Monday through Friday.
Pictsweet says twenty-four thousand packages are affected by the recall. Pictsweet tells news this weekend that the recalled items include the Kroger 12-ounce Green Peas, the Kroger 12-ounce Peas and Carrots, the Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Sweet Peas, and the Great Value 12-ounce Steamable Mixed Vegetables.
