LONDON (LALATE) – Manchester United’s branding of Chicharito hasn’t turned Javier Hernandez into soccer’s newest star; rather, it’s been Chicharito’s immense work ethic and stellar performance on the field. But in advancing the Mexican soccer talent, Manchester United now is trying to learn how to brand its latest star, fast enough, as enormous praise continues to grow.

In Chicharito’s native Mexico, massive billboards carry his Nike campaign. On Sunday, fans tweeted how Chicharito posters seem to be offered in inserts across countless magazines this weekend.  Teen girls take to twitter and Facebook this weekend asking where to get Chicharito posters for their bedroom. Outside of games, colorful sombreros are being sold to British fans; crowds of men and women are wearing pink, yellow and green massive sombreros to games honoring their star.

But as British press report today, Chicharito is a “godsend” to the marketing machine of Manchester United. “The marketing men are always on the lookout for a new star, particularly when the club are £700million in debt, have lost their No1 pin-up, Cristiano Ronaldo, and seen Wayne Rooney become as popular as a package holiday to Yemen.”

And the marketing push will be easier. Wayne Rooney has given countless weeks of scandal news about an alleged mistress. The allegations followed previous mistresses for which Rooney apologized to fans to years earlier. Then Rooney said he wanted to leave Manchester United, only to apologize to fans and announce his return. And yet despite Ferguson’s choice not to refer to previous club stars by their nickname, you would have a hard time hearing Ferguson refer to Chicharito as “Hernandez” during news interviews. TV spots, jerseys and ad spots are for “Chicharito” not “Hernandez”.

Amidt all the roaming-Rooney problems, Chicharito is the real deal. Chicharito’s news is about his work ethic, his stunning goals on the field, and his commitment to his team, not himself. Despite the fact that Chicharito’s million dollar smile appeals to teen girls, Chicharito does not aspire to become another Cristiano Ronaldo seeking to be snapped with Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton at some latenight club. In his own words, “I’m working hard because I want to stay here a long time and win lots of trophies.” He adds that he doesn’t seek to be a star for Manchester United or a hero; rather he seeks to make his team the hero.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Christina Walsh aka Capri Anderson (photos below) will reportedly sue Charlie Sheen over the Plaza Hotel incident. Christina Walsh has appeared as Capri Anderson in films and has worked for Girls Gone Wild. Walsh however will reportedly sue Sheen for his own gone-wild moments earlier this week at the Plaza Hotel in New York, reports TMZ.

The basis of Christina Walsh’s sit remains in doubt. Reports claim the allegations now asserted by Walsh conflict with her testimony to New York investigating officers on scene. Sheen has said the night was blown out of proportion by the media. Was Walsh held against her will by Sheen? Did Walsh lock herself in a closet, or was it a bathroom? While Walsh and Sheen have yet to confirm the events of the night, news reports show three differing stories from the same night.

Walsh is reportedly set to fly to Aspen this week to meet with Pitkin County prosecutors about Sheen’s New York behavior. Despite all this, Sheen is getting complete support from CBS and Warner Brothers as they continue production on his hit CBS series. The series makes CBS $155.1 million in ad revenue per year, with that number expected to increase greatly over the new contract period.

On Sunday moments ago, some Los Angeles residents awoke to a phone call from Martin Sheen. The elder Sheen is among the latest of political telephone automated calls for the upcoming election.

ATLANTA (LALATE) – The Bishop Eddie Long scandal involves Long named with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and The Longfellows Youth Academy as co-defendants in four September lawsuits. But as reported exclusively on LALATE, counsel for New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and The Longfellows Youth Academy quickly filed notice of appearances on October 4, 2010, approximately one week after defendants were served in the action.

Yet, as the case enters the month of November, no counsel has still filed a notice of appearance representing Bishop Eddie Long in any of the four cases, LALATE can exclusively report.

Dockets on all four cases show that on October 4 counsel for New Birth and Longfellows made of notice of appearances promptly for the matters before Judge Johnny N Panos. But the dockets also show no attorney has done the same for Long, now roughly a month after he was served in the action. The dockets show no otherwise notable activity on behalf of the defendants.

LALATE first reported that the four cases filed in September against New Birth, Longfellows and Long could require Long to retain separate counsel from New Birth and Longfellows. Plaintiffs alleged that Long diverted funds from New Birth for use on the plaintiffs. That could amount to conflicting interests between New Birth and Longfellows, on the one hand, and Long, on the other hand. If potential conflict of interests exists, counsel for the New Birth and Longfellow defendants may not also represent Long.

Also notable is the absence of expansion in the Long litigation. After three plaintiffs filed suit against Long, Brenda Joy Bernstein, one of the plaintiffs’ counsel, had told news of many other callers claiming victimization by Long. Since that report, only one additional plaintiff has been added to the scandal. Additionally, dockets show no activity by plaintiffs in the month of October, LALATE can report.

And while Long himself has said he will not try the case in the public and leave it for the courts, the four cases now enter their second month with no responsive pleading nor answer to the complaint by Long appearing on court dockets.

MORRISTOWN, NJ (LALATE) – Sopranos’ Denise Borino-Quinn is dead at 46. Denise Borino-Quinn died Wednesday; her cause of death was liver cancer.  Borino-Quinn died in a Morristown Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday.

Borino-Quinn’s lost her husband Luke Quinn Jr. in March this year. The couple married in 2005.

Ginny Sacramoni was the role that Borino-Quinn scored during an opening casting call. Yet, she didn’t go to the casting call for herself but for a friend. With no acting experience, Borino-Quinn played a part that fans quickly loved.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Brett Favre scandal is getting a second life as Playboy model Jenn Sterger (photos below), after weeks of not granting NFL investigators an interview, confirmed today that she will likely grant an interview next week. The Brett Favre scandal as reported here yesterday was for the most part dead without Sterger’s interview. That all changed Saturday with Sterger’s attorney confirming that his client will meet with NFL investigators this coming week.

Sterger’s testimony is critical for at least three reasons. First, was Sterger offended by the texts? A Sterger alleged friend last week said Sterger would allegedly laugh when receiving the texts from Favre and gladly show them to her girlfriends. Second, were the Sterger texts mutual? The same alleged Sterger friend, Allison Torres, claimed that Favre and Sterger had routinely text back and forth. And third, was Sterger’s ability to do her job affected by receipt of the texts. Of note, New York news says some of the texts were sent in summer 2009 when Favre was retired briefly from the NFL.

Phil Reese has said that Allison Torres “is someone who is clearly trying to exploit an unfortunate situation and capitalize on the opportunity to see her name in print.” Torres told Steppin’ Out Magazine last week that she would be willing to meet with NFL investigators.

Torres’ testimony, as well, would be critical both to the Favre and Sterger set of events.

First, Favre has allegedly told NFL investigators that he did send Sterger texts, but not photos. Torres says Favre sent both and she saw both. Deadspin has claimed the text and photo were sent from the same cellphone number.

Second, Sterger has allegedly portrayed herself as bothered by the Favre texts. But Torres would likely say that Sterger was not offended, nor harassed by the texts, nor the alleged unclothed photos. Torres has previously claimed Sterger, who herself appeared unclothed in Playboy, allegedly showed off Favre’s picture.

Fans have questioned why the alleged offensive conduct went on from 2008 to 2009 and yet the league is only hearing about it now. Moreover, NFL investigators have been silent about other critical witnesses. Among them are the Jets representative that allegedly gave Favre Jenn Sterger’s phone number, the Jets representative who chatted with Sterger about Favre’s first voicemail (the notable “garbage can” chat), and the two female independent contractors at the two-day training camp.

Goodell has told news, that once the investigation is complete, his job will start. “We’re just looking for facts now. I am going to deal with it as we get the facts.” Without providing a timeline, Goodell’s team is expected to make a decision roughly six weeks form when the scandal started.

According to Adam Shefter Saturday, the NFL was “close to shelving the case” without Sterger’s testimony. That will change next week. “There is a very strong likelihood that Ms. Sterger will agree to meet with the NFL in their ongoing investigation,” Joe Conway said Saturday to Shefter. “I expect that such a meeting will take place late next week at an undisclosed location.”
