Camp Rock 2 Rocks To New Cable TV Record

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Camp Rock 2 Final Jam last night made cable tv history causing Demi Lovato and Jonas Brothers fans to wonder if this truly is the “final” jam.
Camp Rock 2 became the highest watch Labor Day weekend program in tv history Friday night in two key demographics – 6 to 11 and 9 to 14. The show was so well received by tv fans that Disney tells news today that its ratings would have had a $63 million one day total at the boxoffice if it had been released theatrically. And Camp Rock 2 is not done, rebroadcasting tonight.
Disney says that based upon a $7.95 movie theatre average ticket, last night would have generated $63.2 million at the boxoffice with 8 million viewers. So why wasn’t the film debuted theatrically, not on tv? Perhaps “Final Jam” might signal that Camp Rock 3 will next jam at a U.S. Boxoffice in 2011. The film featuring the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato was aided by news coverage of the franchise for now upwards of three years. The release of a DVD and two new singles out next Tuesday will aid to the brand’s rollout. But perhaps the true test came last night as Final Jam pulled in 95% more viewers than their closest competitor, ABC News.
So as the number one show on cable tv last night from 8 to 10 pm can Final Jam do it again tonight, tomorrow and Monday? Tonight’s version boasts a sing-along version to aid the ratings war, tells Disney to tv news Saturday.
