Miami Airport Open after Bomb Scare

MIAMI (LALATE) – Miami International Airport had been closed on fears of a pipe bomb. Now Miami Airport is back open as of 8 AM EST. The Miami Airport scare came from a metal canister in luggage that “greatly resembled a pipe bomb”. The luggage was owned by an unidentified 70 year old scientist.
That scientist’s canister shut down the airport for seven hours Thursday night. The man has not been arrested but is being questioned and has yet to be identified. Miami Airport officials say he will probably be let go. It took hours before his canister was tested by a bomb squad. The alert started at 9:30 PM EST. The scientist was arriving from Brazil.
The Miami International Airport Hotel had also been evacuated. But airport officials are urging passengers with departures today to check local carriers because of congestion as travel gets back to normal. While the airport is back open, officials would not comment about delays expected for Friday.
Below is video of the airport scare.
