Nyjer Morgan Fights Chris Volstad while Morgan Fights Suspension

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Nyjer Morgan’s fight against Chris Volstad came as Morgan fights a previous suspension. Nationals outfield Nyjer Morgan is already fighting a suspension when his week started. Now could Nyjer Morgan be fighting a new suspension as his week concludes?
Nyjer MorganĀ is currently contesting a 7-game suspension for throwing a ball at a spectator on August 21. Yet while appealing that case, Nyjer Morgan has gone on a week of terror. After giving Brett Hayes a dislocated shoulder on Tuesday with a WWE inspired hit at home plate, Nyjer Morgan was back it again last night. In the end, he was content with his decision to be ready to rumble while the crowd couldn’t boo loud enough for him to get off the field.
Nyjer Morgan was hit by a pitch from Florida right-hander Chris Volstad in the fourth inning. When Morgan took to the plate in the sixth, Volstad threw a pitch behind Morgan. It didn’t hit Morgan. But Moran was ready to go at Volstad. He defends his actions telling ESPN “I thought it was over after [the fourth inning], but once I saw the ball go right behind me, it’s time to go. Once is good enough, but twice, no, it’s time to go.”
And go at Volstad he did. The question today is whether he should go from the game as well.
Volstad suffered a right cheek abrasion. Marlins Gaby Sanchez entered the action followed by both teams as Jim Riggleman and Edwin Rodriguez. By the end, Morgan, Volstad, Rodriguez and Marlins pitcher Jose Veras were kicked out. But when Morgan left, the entire stadium booed him as he flaunted his arms in the air. In an entire stadium, his fan base appeared to be just himself.
Baseball reporters are calling for Morgan’s suspension today. Steven Biel writes “Seriously, this guy is totally out of control. He shouldn’t be playing baseball, and honestly the guy probably needs to be in therapy. He definitely shouldn’t play the rest of the year for the Nationals.”
