Bengals Cuts Antonio Bryant

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Bengals have cut Antonio Bryant after signing him to a four-year, $28 million deal just this March. Antonio Bryant was cut Sunday after only one practice in camp this season. Bryant had been battling a left knee injury since last season. The Bengals have already paid Bryant $7.85 in bonuses.
Bryant was reportedly not eligible for the Physically Unable to Perform list. Bengals reports say the team was unwilling to wait for Bryant’s condition to improve. In 2008, he delivered for Tampa Bay 83 catches with 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2009 Bryant only produced 39 receptions and 600 yards.
Meantime, in other league news, the Jets also released Laveranues Coles one month after he was signed. But Coach Rex Ryan says it’s “a real possibility” that Coles could be resigned after the season’s first week.
Also, Ben Roethlisberger will meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in and attempt to reduce his suspension from six to four games. And Mike Shanahan tells local news that Donovan McNabb’s spained left ankle leaves him questionable for the team’s season opener.
