LAS VEGAS (LALATE) – UPDATE. Steve Wynn fired Cy Waits (photos below) claim more reports today. Steve Wynn had promoted Cy Waits and twin Jesse just Wednesday to a new position that inked them top positions both in Hollywood and Las Vegas just last Wednesday. When reached, Wynn Resorts (NASDAQ: WYNN) refused to comment, noting reports about Waits were “unsubstantiated”.

Insiders note that Wynn typically doesn’t comment about employment issues of this nature to the news.

Last Wednesday, that was much the case when Wynn refused to comment about a buyout of Victor Drai. Drai is now talking out about the abrupt change. Harrah’s makeover of Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon (formerly the Barbary Coast) was among the reasons for Drai agreeing to a Wynn buyout deal on Wednesday, confirms Drai to LALATE’s favorite Vegas insider, Norm Clarke. The Drai-Wynn buyout prohibited Drai personnel from hiring any Wynn employees for two years. Norm reports that Cy Waits is now out of all Drai businesses like Drai’s Afterhours at Bill’s (Las Vegas) and Drai’s W Hotel (Hollywood).

The Waits had been top execs with Drai since Wynn turned to Drai to convert La Bete to Tryst inside the Wynn Resort.  News were quick to dub the Waits brothers as “moguls” for their spot as managing partners at Tryst Nightclub (Wynn Las Vegas), Drai’s (Las Vegas) and XS Nightclub (Encore Las Vegas).

Yet, KSNV-TV, Channel 3, reporter Alicia Jacobs twittered yesterday Cy Waits has “100 percent … absolutely [been fired]“. Jacobs reveals that Wait and Hilton were offered a limo at the Caesar’s Palace. Hilton’s response was  “No, my boyfriend will be driving us tonight.” E!, which first reported Wynn firing the Waits. E! noted that “Wynn has a zero-tolerance policy with their club execs when it comes to brushes with the law.”

A Wynn source tells Norm that the report of Wait’s firing is “unsubstantiated” and added “Wynn has nothing new to report or share on the situation.”

WASHINGTON (LALATE) – UDPATE. Glenn Beck’s rally attendance has been attracting criticism over news estimates since Saturday. Now Monday, the Beck Rally attendance criticism is not stopping despite online pictures of crowds for Restoring Honor that do not suggest on million were in attendance nor that just tens of thousands showed up

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said over the weekend “We’re not going to let anyone get away with saying there were less than a million here today  – because we were witnesses.”

Beck tried to make humor of the anticipated debate by telling attendees Saturday “I just gotten word from the media that there is over a thousand people here today.” Beck then said he heard the attendance “between 300,000 and 500,000.” But where did Beck get his numbers from?

That could be the same question you might ask of AirPhotosLive.com, the company which provided CBS it’s number. AirPhotosLive.com said there were between 78,000 and 96,000 with a margin of error of 9,000. “The photos used to make the estimate were taken at noon Saturday, which is when the company  estimated was the rally’s high point.” CBS came to the conclusion it was 87,000. AP, while vague, said only “tens of thousands”.

But AP doesn’t specify how far it counted, writing “At his rally with tens of thousands on the steps of Lincoln Memorial”. Yet an aerial picture taken by Reuters shows the crowd far extended pass the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. On Saturday, LALATE said that photo like others showed “a virtual blanketing from the National World War II Memorial to Lincoln’s Memorial.” Others have since disagreed. On the Washington Post, readers write today “It can’t help be noticed that there’s a lot of empty, green spaces in the areas behind the main line. They’re not exactly packed in tight.”

Beck had previously said of the benefiting charity “We selected — I selected — Special Operations Warrior Foundation because it is an incredibly clean, well-run organization that struggles to honor commitment.”

VISALIA (LALATE) – Mormon Bishop Clay Sannar (photo above) was fatally shot on Sunday in his church office at Visalia’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The shooter has yet to be identified.

Today locals are searching for answers why an unidentified shooter came into the office, located in the 1600 block of Burrel and Divisadero shortly after 12 noon Sunday and began shooting at 42 year old Bishop Clay Sannar. Responding police were on scene within minutes, shooting dead the suspect. Yet today police still do have a motive for the deadly attack Sunday.

Visalia California Police Chief Colleen Mestas confirms today that that the shooter called police after killing Sannar, confessed to the murder, and then told them where he was next heading. Mestas says police found him and a gunfight erupted.

Yet despite a dozen investigators assigned to the case, police have no answers. Mestas says church members did not recognize the shooter.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Patti Stanger has been recorded in a rant tape with Lauren Solomon, a feud that Stanger is dispelling as just a disagreement. But is it? The Patti Stanger Lauren Solomon rant tape comes just weeks after Stanger confirmed the end of her engagement to Andy Friedman. Now the question remains if Solomon is any match for the matchmaker?

Stanger recently revealed that her engagement fell apart over a disagreement as well, over kids. “I just ended my relationship with Andy. It hit me really hard that I want kids in my life. You have to agree on the non-negotiables.” Friedman had proposed to Stanger on her birthday May 31 2009, nearly 5 1/2 years after they first met, through a matchmaker.

The rant tape is over an upcoming appearance by Stanger for Elle Magazine on the Today Show. Stanger shouts “”This is Elle f–g magazine! This is the big one!”  You can hear the tape here. Solomon has yet to comment about the recording.

NEW DELHI (LALATE) – Whether you call it spot-fixing or match-fixing, the Pakistani cricket fixing scandal is prompting outrage by fans. The scandal details were not alerted to organizers until a News of the World publication issued the shocking allegations this weekend. By Sunday, protesters took the street with donkeys in outrage over the largest sports fixing scandal in recent memory.

The name of each player named in the scandal was put onto a different donkey; the donkeys were then walked through the streets of Lahore this weekend when angered fans tossed tomatoes at the donkeys and slapping them with old shoes. One protester shouted at a tv news reporter, saying that cricket – after terrorism and flooding problems – was the only remaining “source of happiness” in the country.

The Chairman of the National Assembly standing committee on sports, Iqbal Muhammad Ali, told news “They have brought shame to the country and they deserve the worst. We immediately demand the sacking of this board and if this is not done we will resign in protest.”

While news reports have called the  Mazhar Majeed scandal a “match-fixing” operation, insiders are quick to correct that and call it as a mix of both match-fixing and “spot-fixing” operations. As British news explains today, spot-fixing is where a player makes a move that doesn’t affect the game’s ultimate result.

The spot-fixing here at issue were three no-balls delivered allegedly by Mazhar Majeed. Majeed tells an uncovered reporter for NOW “”I’m going to give you three no-balls to prove to you firstly that this is what’s happening. They’ve all been organised, okay? This is EXACTLY what’s going to happen, you’re going to SEE these three things happen. I’m telling you, if you play this right you’re going to make a lot of money, believe me!”

The report claims Majeed confessed to match-fixing before, that he confessed to “his match-fixing round the world had netted customers millions”. He claims the operation was headed by Salman Butt and orchestrated by Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif. Click HERE for more.
