BEVERLY HILLS (LALATE) – EXCLUSIVE. Chez Gabriela Studio was the scene of the arrest of Maria Gabriella Perez on federal fraud charges this week. But Chez Gabriela Studio is not a studio on a commercial street in Beverly Hills. It’s listed to a small multi-family house on 139 North La Peer.
Data obtained exclusively by LALATE reveals the address is a multi-family residential property purchased in 1998 with an assessed value of $1.43 million, of which only $205,000 is accessed for improvements. Perez claims her studio is a “symbol” of beauty ” in the U.S.”; rather its location is just a multi-unit residential home. It features 2 units in the front built in 1937 with 6 bedrooms and 2 baths; a second 1954 built structure offers only 909 square feet and 2 bedrooms.
Perez says she is from Barcellona and was a protegee of Elizabeth Arden’s Maureen Russel, in New York. Perez claims the “Chez Gabriela” studio was opened in Beverly Hills in 1986 and became “a status symbol for beauty skin care, initially in Los Angeles and then in the US” referring to herself as a “skin artist”.
Perez features a picture of Jenifer Aniston on her website. The headshot, which doesn’t appear recent, reads “Dearest Gabby, Thank you for always being so good to me. Love you, Jennifer.”
Yet Aniston is listed with Anne Hathaway, Liv Tyler, Melanie Griffith, Cher and Scott Speedman as among Perez’s alleged victims. Melanie, Cher, and other celebrities appear on Perez’s website. Perez, 51, has been charged with two counts of access device fraud. She faces 25 years in federal prison.
