Francisco Rodriguez Injury UPDATE

NEW YORK (LALATE) – UPDATE. Francisco Rodriguez’s finger injury from allegedly punching Carlos Pena has now ended his season.
Carlos Pena, father of Daian Pena, was allegedly assaulted by K-Rod after the Mets finished Wednesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies. K-Rod’s attack inside the team’s “Family Lounge” clubhouse resulted in K-Rod being put on the restricted list for two days without pay (a $125,000 value).
Now tonight the Mets confirmed the injury will require surgery, will end Francisco Rodriguez’s season, and could take Francisco even longer to recover from than just one season.
Carlos Pena is 53. He and Daian were granted a protection order against K-Rod for his attack last week. Rodriguez has said of the incident “First of all, I’m extremely sorry. I want to apologize to [owners] Fred Wilpon, Jeff Wilpon and Mr. [Saul] Katz for the incident that happened Wednesday night. I want to apologize also to the Mets fans, to my teammates. I want to apologize, of course, to the front office for the embarrassing moment that I caused. I’m looking forward to being a better person. Right now the plan is I’m going to be going to [an] anger management program. And I cannot speak no farther about the legal stuff that we’re going through right now. I want to apologize. Sorry.”
