Eli Manning Suffers Head Injury

NEW YORK (LALATE) – Eli Manning suffered a head injury tonight. Eli Manning’s head injury happened moments ago in Monday Night Football’s opening pre-season game of the Giants vs Jets.
It was the start of the second quarter when a horrible error happened in the backfield between Jacobs and Manning. Jacobs thinks Eli is going to hand him the football. He doesn’t. Then Manning gets blindsided from the rear, sacked so hard his helmet goes flying.
At the time of his exit, Manning was 4 for 8 on passing, with 77 yards, no TDs and no interceptions. Mark Sanchez has been 8 for 12 on passing with 86 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Manning was able to walk off the field, holding his head clearly in a lot of pain. Current score is currently 10-10 in the 2nd quarter.
UPDATE: 9:23 PM EST
Eli Manning has a 3-inch laceration to his upper forehead that is getting stitches. (A laceration is where the skin is torn or punctured in an irregular shape.)
UPDATE 10:57 PM EST
Manning had 12 stitches, no concussion, says team reps moments ago. Eli just released the following statement: “I feel fine. I feel normal. The play was my fault. We had a run play with an option to throw a fade that I thought I might try, but Brandon [Jacobs] was coming right up the middle. Sometimes you make a mistake and you get hit in the head. It’s preseason, you learn from it. I really feel like I could go back out and play right now if I had to.”
