ECUADOR NOTICIAS – TEMBLOR. Un terremoto de fuerza moderada, de 6,9 puntos en la escala Richter, estremeció hoy la zona de Ambato, Ecuador. The temblor struck at 6:54 AM this morning, close to Ambato, Riobamba, Nueva Loja and Quito. No reports of injuries nor damage have yet been given.
The location of today’s Temblor is a mountain region with few people as residents. The temblor was very deep below the earth’s surface, over 110 miles underground. The temblor was east of highway 45 near Santa Clara, Arajuno, Costa Azul, and Puyo. The quake was also east of highway 35 near Ambato.
To the east is a large mountain and reserve region, the Zona Reservada Pucacuro. Further east is Cahuinari National Park and Amacaycau Nation Park.
