MIAMI (LALATE) – Photos of Shanna Marie McLaughlin taken for Axis Magazine are sparking controversy. Playboy’s Shanna Marie McLaughlin had pictures and video taken inside the UCF (University of Central Florida) locker room. Shanna Marie McLaughlin is a UCF graduate and since has been Playboy’s Miss July 2010; so when a magazine approached UFC’s coach George O’Leary if new pictures of Shanna Marie McLaughlin could be shot inside the team locker room, he approved.
That approval, rather than the photos, is now sparking school officials’ disapproval. Leary tells the Orlando Sentinel “I approved the magazine. The guy called my office and basically wanted to know if they could do a magazine shoot.”
He added “There was a UCF girl who had her MBA and all that. And the only thing I asked is, ‘Is that a magazine that is distributed on campus?’ And they said, ‘Yes.’ They’ve done I think four, since I’ve been here at least four, initial copies of football [previews] opening up the football season.”
UCF has since apologized for the controversy. “University officials would be reminding employees about the university’s standards.” The news came as UFC “launched a massive family friendly media blitz to encourage fans to buy season tickets.”
Yet, Fox Orlando wonders if the shoot (fully clothed) was good for the school and selling season tickets “While some are upset over the video, still others claim that the exposure for the school is good.”
