BOGOTA, COLOMBIA (LALATE) – A 5.0 earthquake has struck near Bogota, Colombia today. News reports of  the “temblor” or “terremoto” dominated broadcast television late today. The Bogota felt earthquake was roughly 80 miles outside of town. There are no news reports of injury.

Earthquake mapping shows the quake was southwest of Bogota and east of the major center of Tulua. The earthquake’s epicenter was in the western mountain regions near the Sumapaz National Park nestled near the 45 freeway.

The quake was reportedly felt 80 miles away in Bogota even though it registered a decent depth of 40 feet below the earth’s surface. Striking at 2:34 PM local time today, the earthquake is south west of the 45-40 freeway interchange, and west of the 25 freeway. Mapping shows the area in which the quake struck is not densely populated. The quake was bordered by the Rio Magdalena.

Also today there has been significant aftershocks again in Baja Mexico felt across sections of San Diego. USGS news reports list the quakes as high as 3.9 striking predominately midday Thursday on the west coast.

Un temblor estremeció cerca de Girardot, Ibaque, Armenia, y Bogota hoy. The earthquake hit roughly 24 miles south west of Girardot, 3 miles south east of Ibaque, and 80 miles west south west of Bogota.

The terremoto was of relative depth – 39 miles below the earth’s surface. The earthquake hit at 2:34 PM local time today. USGS mapping shows that the quake was west of highway 45, south west of where highway 40 and 45 intersect. The quake was centered near Las Mercedes, close to Saldana, Guamo, in the mountain region of Chicaumbe.

There are no reports of injury currently. Later today, a 3.2 earthquake hit Baja Mexico and 2.6 earthquake struck Maine.

ORLANDO (LALATE) – Friends of Adrienne Simmons say the kickboxer’s death could have been prevented. Adrienne Simmons’s death covered on LALATE Tuesday is sparking outrage from family and friends; they claim a delay in medical response caused her passing.

On Saturday, Adrienne Simmons participated in a sanction Thai-style kickboxing match in Orange County, Florida. The event was sponsored by the International Kickboxing Federation. The reason why no ambulance was on scene remains in dispute.

Adrienne Simmons’ family, friends and coach say it took one hour until her medical transport was on scene. Insiders call the lack of an ambulance present at a kickboxing event as unheard of. Officials had no EMT personnel nor ambulance ready.

Simmons’ boyfriend, Chike Lindsay-Ajudua, told a local TV station “The swelling could have been stopped earlier. I’m sure that could have been avoided.The swelling could have been stopped earlier. I’m sure that could have been avoided.” Simmons was reportedly wearing headgear but reportedly had three matches in one weekend.

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) -  The condition of Lauren Froderman on So You Think You Can Dance is unknown. Lauren Froderman was meeting with medics last night learned viewers of So You Think You Can Dance. Whether Lauren is injured or not and whether she will return to So You Think You Can Dance remains unanswered. But twitter reports claim the matter might be serious.

Not impressive last night was Jose Ruiz and questionable for elimination is Robert Roldan. Unconfirmed twitter posts claimed midnight Wednesday “According to Lauren’s dad, she’s in the hospital and has dehydration and a concussion. Pray she’s okay tomorrow!”

Another twitter update reads “Seems as though Lauren’s condition might be more serious than previously expected. Sending all the love and prayers to her!”

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Janet Jackson’s BlackGlama fur advertisement is sparking controversy from animal rights activists. BlackGlama features Janet Jackson embellishing herself in fur. The fur coat covers Jackson from nearly head to toe. But it’s the caption for the ad that is also sparking controversy – “What Becomes a Legend Most?”

Pamela Anderson says fur doesn’t become a legend, nor anyone. Anderson tells OUT Magazine that Jackson must be “greedy” to take a job promoting fur. “It’s disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don’t know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it’s sad.”

In the promo video for the fur outfit, Jackson says “If someone would have told me later in life that I would be alongside such legendary entertainers, I would have never believed it.”

PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews issued the following statement directed toward Jackson. “You and I spoke at length about the fur issue. You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message. You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?”
