Crown Fire Nears Palmdale – Rancho Vista and Leona Valley Concern

PALMDALE (LALATE) – The Crown Fire is now at 8000 acres near Palmdale reports LA Fire. The Crown Fire still endangers Leona Valley, Rancho Vista, and Agua Dulce homes as of 8 AM PST Friday.
The Crown Fire’s advance near Palmdale was updated by LA Fire moments ago to Los Angeles news. A fire that started at 2 pm Thursday slowed after midnight in its advance. It had already jumped from 2,000 acres at 8:30 PM last night to 8,000 acres by 8 am today.
LA Fire reports to local news that the fire west of Palmdale is now 5% contained. As reported on LALATE at midnight last night (but still being incorrectly reported by some local news sites) Acton Community Center at Nickels Avenue is closed for evacuations. Residents should only use Agua Dulce Elementary or Marie Kerr Park. Ritter Ranch has mandatory evacuations from 90th Street west to Grant Center, and residnets south of Elizabeth Lake Road.
The number of homes destroyed has not been indicated to local news. But LA Fire says 1,500 homes are directly threatened at the time of this 8 am report. Improvement on containment has been reached in just the last two hours, with 0% containment at 6 am today and 5% already by 8 am. Inspector Matt Levesque of the Los Angeles County Fire Department reports no injuries.
