LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Anna Fermanova has been arrested en route to Russia. Anna Fermanova (pictures below) is accused of trying to smuggle to Russian devices just days after Anna Chapman was deported back to Russia. Anna has been charged with “knowingly and intentionally” attempting to export “from the United States to Russia defense articles on the United States Munitions list”.

Anna Fermanova was arrested for trying to send night vision devices to Russia through JFK airport. Anna Fermanova reportedly tried to check in her luggage night vision devices for her trip back. Anna’s luggage was stopped by US Customs and Border Protection.

An affidavit claims that Anna Fermanova was “intentionally attempt to export” U.S. Defense department devices that appear on our U.S. Munitions List, each worth $15,000, an including a Raptor 4X, a “generation 3″ scope that adds to a rifle. It’s not the type of item you would expect a 24 year old to pack in her luggage for a trip overseas.

But the allegations don’t stop there. U.S. official claim that Fermanova tryed to smuggle the items which had “no visible identification stickers or markings” and key serial numbers were “covered with black marker pen”.  Her lawyer calls the claims “silly”.

Lawyer Scott Palmer said the night vision scopes were being taken back to Russia for Anna Fermanova’s husband to be resold to possible animal hunters. Anna Fermanova moreover claims that she bought the scopes online, was unaware of any regulations regarding the scopes. ICE agents say she explained she “signed something about [regulations]” but was “not really sure what she was signing.” Reports claim that the Latvian born US citizen is under house arrest, living in Plano, Texas. Fermanova is out on $50,000 bail and set to appear in a Brooklyn court in July.
