LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Beloved actor Maury Chaykin  is dead at age 61. Maury Chaykin’s death is confirmed by his manager today. Maury Chaykin died following kidney problems.

Maury Chaykin is perhaps best known for his role in Dances with Wolves. His credits go back as far as the 1970s with notable films The Guardian, Hockey Night, Def Con 4, and even Meatballs III. He appeared in the 1980s as Randall Jackson in the reoccurring role on Seeing Things and later as Mallory on Night Heat. By the late 1980s, Maury Chaykin was in Breaking In and Street legal.

Mark McKinney who produced Chaykin in Less than Kind (HBO) tells FOX News  his thoughts about Chaykin  the actor. “He was one of our greatest actors. Maury’s an actor of unparalleled gifts, you cannot learn what he had in spades — you could study for 1,000 years. He had an incredible gift, an instant quickness.”

He is survived by wife, actress Susannah Hoffman and their daughter. Funeral arrangements are pending. Maury Chaykin will be greatly missed.
