Khmer Rouge’s Duch (Kaing Guek Eav) under Pol Pot Found Guilty

LONDON (LALATE) – Khmer Rouge’s prison chief Duch (Kaing Guek Eav) under Pol Pot Found has been found guilty. Duch was on trial for crimes against humanity. The 67 year old was sentence to 35 years in prison, but will serve 16 years for time served and time illegally held. He has been behind bars for the last 11 years facing trail by the Cambodia / UN wars crimes prosecutors.
Comrade Duch, a senior official under Khmer Rouge, is the first official during that regime to be tried and found guilty. Khmer Rouge resulted in the deaths of 1.7 million citizens, many death from torture.
Duch was found guilty for his direct role as head of the Tuol Sleng prison where 14,000 people died 30 years ago. Reports claim only seven prisoners of Tuol Seng survived. Today, the prison is the location of the Tuol Seng Museum of Genocide.
