Nick Schuyler – Life after the NFL Boating Accident

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Nick Schuyler tells Oprah he still is looking for answers after that fateful NFL boating accident. Nick Schuyler opened up to Oprah about that tragic boating accident that took the lives of Marquis Cooper (Oakland Raiders), Corey Smith (NFL free agent) and William Bleakley (former USF) in February, 2009; Schuyler says he still hasn’t come to peace with why fate choice him to be the sole survivor.
After the tragedy, Nick Schuyler first told press he was “not good.” “I still can’t believe it.I remember being with the Coast Guard, in the helicopter, and their main concern was with the other guys. They said, ‘Where are the other guys?’ And I had to explain, ‘There is no other guys.’”
“[I'm not] that good. I think about it all the time. Every day.”
Nick said the hardest moments were nights in which he was left without answers why he was the sole survivor. “I still ask every day, ‘Why me?’”. The hardest time of day for me is at nighttime. I toss and turn, and your mind’s weak. You get started thinking about everything, the same thing: ‘Why me?’ I don’t know.”
In a tragic morning of February 2009, a boat off Clearwater, Florida was eventually discovered with Nick hanging on it. The NFL athletes would never be found.

Oprah could’ve asked so many other questions. She played it safe. What about Nick’s faith? Did faith kick in? Did he have conversations with God? Did he have a born again experience? Did Jesus visit him out there on the boat? Is Nick on medication for depression? For anxiety? Come on, Oprah…get with the program…
